Perfect for giving outdoor buildings new lease of life

2020 has undoubtedly been a great year for the garden. Brands from seed companies through to garden tools have seen a huge surge in demand and many are seeing sales continue long after the normal ‘garden season’ as people strive to make the most of their green space. Onduline, world leaders in lightweight materials for roofing, believes that this sudden spike in interest for DIY and gardening is just the beginning and will continue into 2021.

Paul Duffy, Managing Director of Onduline, comments: “Gardening and DIY definitely emerged as two key lockdown pastimes, but as well as filling the void of time many felt during lockdown, it also gave people the chance to create more useable space in the garden, allowing them to ‘escape’ their four walls.

“This is a trend I don’t see slowing down any time soon. With the increasing need to work from home many are looking at what they can do to ensure they have a dedicated space, not only for working but for relaxing and entertaining. One such way to do this is to invest in outdoor buildings, which can be regarded as an extension of the home rather than just a place to store tools or machinery.

“In fact, we recently conducted a survey of 2,000 respondents which found that during the summer garden-owners spent an average of seven hours in the space and another three hours in their outdoor building– so it is no surprise that the UK population want to make their shed or summer house as hospitable as possible.

“For garden centres there is a great opportunity this year to look beyond the ‘normal’ gardening or DIY season and see products, such as Onduline roofing systems, as an essential part of home renovation.

“Our product ONDULINE EASYLINE is perfect for those looking to quickly give their outdoor building a new lease of life. The flexible and easy to handle roof system is ideal for medium-sized roof applications and homeowners can also take advantage of its availability in seven bright colours that will give any outdoor building a vibrant finish.

“Aside from the end-user benefits, the ONDULINE EASYLINE is incredibly easy for garden centres to store due to its compact size (1 x 0,76 m²), ensuring it won’t dominate a shop floor. Garden centres can also take advantage of our ONDULINE EASYLINE branded pallet, which includes the relevant fixings and accessories in one stand.”
