The former Cherry Tree Café on the A158 at Sudbrooke near Lincoln has been given a new lease of life as it has been transformed into a new Garden Centre and Coffee Shop.  

The new venture, which opened on Saturday (January 22) is offering a range of gardening products and giftware.  The Centre will also include a new coffee shop offering 200 Degrees coffee as well as a range of other drinks, cakes and light meals.

Lincoln couple Mike and Heather Frecklington are behind the new venture, building on Mike’s 25 years’ experience of managing garden centres.  

Mike said: “I have been involved in garden centres since my first weekend job at age 16. I have managed garden centres around the country including a number in Lincolnshire and we’re excited to bring this experience to our own venture”.

Keen to recognise its heritage, the Garden Centre has the Cherry Tree name, refreshing and rebranding the site as the Cherry Tree Garden Centre and Coffee Shop.  

“We have lived close to Sudbrooke for much of our lives and it is a fantastic building with a lot of local support and loyal customers – we have been delighted with the amount of support we’ve had so far from local people who are excited to see the building back in use.  The completion of the Eastern Bypass has meant the Centre much more accessible to many more people and we are looking forward to welcoming people from across Lincoln and beyond!”

The Centre will offer products such as wild bird care, house plants, outdoor plants, composts, solar lighting and garden décor, whilst the coffee shop will be serving barista coffees and other hot and cold drinks, breakfasts, light lunches and cakes.

“The garden side is small at the moment but will are looking to expand quickly as the weather warms up,” said Mike.
