Primeur continues to support retailers as the industry emerges from lockdown

Primeur has always prided itself on delivering the highest quality customer service levels, and it certainly wasn’t going to let a global pandemic stand in the way of this! Since lockdown the leading supplier of garden products, including the award-winning ECO Garden range, has been working tirelessly to ensure that its retailer customers are fully stocked to meet consumer demand. Here the company’s Sales Director, Jenny Douthwaite, tells us more about how Primeur has been operating during the most unprecedented start to the season ever.

“Primeur remains very much open for business. We have reduced staff numbers, taking advantage of the government furlough scheme in order to guarantee our longevity, but the remaining team is working hard to ensure our customers are fully stocked. Of course, we have had to implement a number of changes to make certain the health and wellbeing of our staff, as well as ensuring we remain compliant with the government’s social distancing and sanitation guidelines. Additionally, we’re regularly communicating with our home-based workers to make sure they continue to feel part of the Primeur team, which we believe is so important in helping them to feel reassured and keeping the positivity going in these strange and unfamiliar times.

“As garden centres across England and Wales reopen, we’re working hard to ensure we can service all our customers. We appreciate that those stores that have been closed or had no online capabilities during lockdown will still have stock remaining from pre-season delivery, however an influx of customers now they are able open once again, coupled with more staycations this summer, will hopefully see stock quickly sell. We want to reassure our customers that stock of all our products including our award-winning Eco Garden range will be available for them all when top-up orders are needed, whether they are operating a bricks and mortar store, or continuing to capture online sales. We were fortunate to have all our stock for the season in our warehouse ahead of lockdown which allows us to turn deliveries around quickly.

“Like many we are incredibly pleased to see garden centres reopening and have no doubt that UK garden retailers will set a new benchmark for how to operate a safe and controlled environment for both staff and customers’ peace of mind. We appreciate that it will take some time before we get back to a new kind of normal, so during this period of transition we will continue to support our customers, no matter how long it may take. We invite customers to reach out to us with any questions they may have as we navigate this unknown landscape. For now, all that is left to say is to offer kudos to everyone during this time. To those that diversified and captured the online sales….those that have supported their local communities….those that have utilised initiative to find a new ‘normal’….those that have gone above and beyond to support the supply chain…those that have taken steps to find a way to put a smile on each other’s faces……we salute you all. We’re so pleased to be part of such a supportive and friendly industry and thank you all for your support.”
