Celebrity gardener Chris Collins to give CarFest revellers free consultations on gardening on August Bank Holiday

Celebrity gardener Chris Collins will be on hand for three days at CarFest South from 26th to 28th August 2016, giving free advice on how to make the most of your outside space – whether it is a balcony, roof terrace, patio or even just a windowsill.

Chris is the ambassador for the ‘Love the Plot You’ve Got’ campaign aimed at getting non-gardeners aged between 30 and 45 years old thinking about their outside space differently, and he will be brimming with inspirational tips and advice to CarFest goers.

This year the inspiring Love the Plot You’ve Got Roadshow gardens have been designed by Chris, supported by Association of Professional Landscapers with further products being supplied by Pile Height, Mr. Fothergill’s, Scott’s Miracle-Gro and EcoScape.  All plants will be supplied by multiple show medal winners Hardy’s Cottage Garden Plants and props will be supplied by Henry Street Garden Centre.

Keith Nicholson, Marketing Director of Westland Horticulture and Chair of the Garden Industry Marketing Board said: “CarFest is a fantastic event and we had such a positive response from visitors at the North event that we knew we definitely had to do South as well.  We will be building a fantastic garden showing people how they can do exciting things in their outside spaces, no matter the size or shape, with minimal effort and cost."

Celebrity Gardener Chris Collins said: “CarFest is a celebration of being outside and outside life and it’s great that we are here for the first time!  We will be showing people that gardening isn’t a secret club you need to join to get into it - it’s actually very easy to do, and will be showing some simple tips and tricks with our hands-on demonstrations for both kids and grown-ups."

The team will be at stand C65 in the lifestyle area close to the demo zone on the track. There will be lots of different gardening ideas on display to demonstrate how people can maximise their space be it an area for the kids, an area to encourage wildlife or a little haven of relaxation.  People visiting the stand will also be in with a chance to win a hamper packed full of Miracle-Gro products to improve their own outdoors area.

The roadshows are part of the innovative three-year Love the Plot You’ve Got Campaign which has been created following detailed research into consumer perceptions about their desires for their outdoor living spaces, especially among the key 30-45-year-old age group.  Highlights of the 2016 campaign have involved RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May, Al Fresco Fortnight in June and a comprehensive social media programme.
