Huge surge in seed sales

Following a large number of queries regarding Mr Fothergill’s in the current unprecedented situation, the company have issued the following statement:

"Since the Coronavirus outbreak began, we have seen a surge in online and postal sales along with increased sales in Garden Centres and other seed outlets. Now that the stricter restrictions are in place, the rate of sale has increased even further. We have also seen similar sales in our Australian operation and Bunnings has even introduced seed packet rationing.

"We would like to assure you that, at present, we have plenty of stock in place to fulfil orders though they may take a little longer to arrive than usual. Should any stock run low, we have bulk stocks of seed in temperature controlled storage that can be packed in a short time.

"We would also like to add that the health and wellbeing of all our staff is of primary importance. A large percentage of our office based staff are now working from home as are our sales team. We are maintaining a skeleton staff for packing, picking and despatch, working in smaller teams over 24 hours, to fulfil demand while ensuring that appropriate social distancing is maintained at all times.

"The Board of Directors is reviewing the situation on a daily basis and will comply with any further restrictions that may be implemented by the Government in future."
