Dobbies Garden Centre, Morpeth wins Britain in Bloom Gold award

Morpeth Town triumphed at the Royal Horticulture Society (RHS) Britain in Bloom by winning the prestigious Gold award. This comes after being invited to compete after previously winning the Gold award for Best Town in Northumbria and Dobbies Garden Centre, Morpeth winning a Gold award in the Commercial Premises category.

  • Morpeth Town wins Gold award at Britain in Bloom
  • Dobbies Garden Centre, Morpeth wins Gold award for Commercial Premises and Morpeth Town wins Gold award for Best Town in Northumbria in Bloom

Team members from Dobbies Garden Centre in Morpeth, led by Horticulture Manager Nigel Lawton planted over 5,000 plants taking them over 300 hours in total.  The team of 4 members are delighted to have also won the Gold for Commercial Premises.  The majority of plants in this year’s entry were supplied by Dobbies Garden Centre and consisted of a number of popular bedding plant varieties that were sourced from UK nurseries especially for the competition.

Nigel Lawton, Horticulture Manager at Dobbies Morpeth, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won this prestigious award. Myself and the rest of the team really enjoyed the entire process and can’t wait to enter again next year.”

Britain in Bloom is the largest horticultural campaign in the United Kingdom, with over 1,600 communities around the UK entering each year."
