Glee 2017: keynote speaker confirmed as award-winning garden journalist Nick Bailey

On Monday 11th September, Glee will be welcoming award-winning gardening journalist and TV presenter, Nick Bailey, to the stage as this year’s keynote speaker.

Leading not one, but three sessions as part of Glee’s ever-popular seminar programme, Nick’s keynote speech will focus on the latest emerging trends in gardens, how garden centres can utilise garden shows as a way of promotion, and the diverse ways that the younger generations can engage with horticulture.

With 25 years’ experience under his belt, Nick has carved out a career within both the publishing and broadcasting worlds. A regular on TV and radio, his books ‘Chelsea Physic Garden’ and ‘365 Days of Colour in Your Garden’ have both toppedthe bestsellers charts, with his next foray ‘Revive Your Garden’ tipped to repeat this success. Nick also regularly contributes to Garden News, and BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine for which he was awarded Property Press Awards' Garden Journalist of the Year 2017.

As well as his notable achievements in publishing, Nick has also received prestigious awards for his work including ‘Best TV Programme’ at the 2016 Garden Media Guild Awards for his Gardeners’ World feature on Shakespearean plants, and a Silver Gilt medal for his first Main Avenue Garden creation at RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Matthew Mein, Glee Event Director said: “I am so pleased to be able to confirm Nick as our keynote speaker. He has had such a varied career and I am sure that people will be very interested in hearing his thoughts on some of the hot topics that are currently shaping the future of our industry.”

Nick’s keynote sessions will take place three times throughout Monday 11th September, at the new seminar location within Glee’s hottest new feature – the Retail Lab. Further details can be found at https://www.gleebirmingham.com/visit/whats-on/keynote-speaker
