Police chase after caravans stolen from Planters Garden Centre

Four police forces were involved in a pursuit leading to the recovery of four caravans which went missing from Planters Garden Centre.

Officers received the 999 call from a member of public at 1.40am on Thursday (February 18) to say that he had come across an abandoned caravan in Trinity Road.

Initially Warwickshire Police were dispatched to the scene, however Staffordshire Police had already discovered the abandoned caravan in the middle of the road.

Investigations on the identification details on the caravan revealed the owner was from Kingsbury. The owner was contacted to see where the caravan should be.

The caravan's owners revealed that it was being stored at Planters and should have been there. Officers then checked the garden centre where it was discovered a total of four caravans were missing.

Meanwhile,West Midlands Police were following a Range Rover towing a caravan at Junction 10 of the M42.

Officers said that when they attempted to stop the Range Rover it failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.

The Range Rover was still towing a caravan as it failed to stop down the M42 and M54.

West Midlands, West Mercia and Warwickshire Police officers eventually stopped the vehicle on the M54 in the West Mercia area.

Meanwhile two other vehicles, also towing caravans, were also stopped.

Four caravans were recovered. Three men were arrested and have since been charged with conspiracy to steal.
