Are garden centres a panacea from election blues?
GTN Bestsellers Analysis

Garden centres appear to be the ideal place to get away from all that Election and Brexit “stuff” and a refuge away from the very wet weather.

In the spring wet weeks and weekends cause a severe dip in sales, but last week was the second week in succession that total volme garden centre sales have been up by 13% on the same week last year.  And that is despite all that rain!

At this rate, as the election gets nearer and more customers look to garden centres for escape and a warm winter treat we could be looking at a bumper November for all sales and especially Christmas.

GTN’s Christmas Top 50 index is now running at 12.5% up year on year and the increase in footfall to visit wonderful Christmas displays is also driving increases in Garden products, Growing media, gifts and food.  We’ve also nioticed a significant increase in the sales of Toys & Games this Christmas season.
