Three garden centres sold in three weeks

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has announced the re-letting of two Dobbies garden centres in Gosforth and Stratford-on-Avon, as well as the sale of Chelston Nurseries in Somerset.

Christie & Co was instructed by several landlords affected by the Dobbies restructuring process. The centre in Gosforth has been let to British Garden Centres, whilst the Stratford centre will be rebranded ‘Warwick Garden Centre’ and operated by the owners of the nearby Stratford Garden Centre. Both operators are undertaking refurbishments and restocking, in preparation for spring trade.

Chelston Nurseries, located near Wellington in Somerset, has been sold to local garden centre operator Richard King, who owns sites in Sidmouth and Exmouth, trading as Kings Garden and Leisure.

There has been a high level of activity in the garden centre market so far this year, and Christie & Co anticipates a further four sales in February. These transactions and record viewing levels reflect the strong demand for quality sites across the country.

Tom Glanvill, Director – Garden Centres at Christie & Co, said: “We finished 2024 with an exceptional run of transactions, and I am really pleased to see this momentum carry forward into 2025, with garden centres remaining one of the most sought-after trading businesses.”
