May is a record for garden centre sales volumes... but only just

 

It was officially a record breaking May according to the GTN Bestsellers Epos Sales data analysis. May 2018 total garden centre sales were up by 12% on May 2017 and ahead of the previous May best set in 2016 by 1%...

Total plant sales for May up by 21%

 

The GTN Bestsellers total plant sales analysis for May shows volumes up by 21% on May last year which is probably an all-time record but as we only started detailed plants analysis in 2016 we can’t look back further than that at the moment.

April was a rollercoaster month for garden centre sales
 

Sales at garden centres across the country were up and down during April according to the Garden Centre Association’s Barometer of Trade report. Mark Winchester, Managing Director at Blackbrooks Garden Centre in East Sussex, said: “It was very much a month of two halves."
