Largest garden centre of Iceland

This year Smiemans Projecten is completing a new garden centre of 7,250 square metres for Gardheimar in Reykjavik.

The design is by the international architectural firm PK Arkitektar.

The large window displays, the green roof, the vertical wooden blinds and the architectural facade will give this garden centre the biophilic look that suits their industry.

The 90-metre-wide building with an asymmetrical roof will have a central hall of 25 metres wide. In this central hall with a height of 12 metres a mezzanine floor will be realised. This floor will accommodate offices, canteen and social areas for staff.

The garden centre will have a fully catered restaurant and many attractive shop-in-shops.

The warehouse is equipped with a green roof.

A canopy around the outside area will be built so that customers can shop comfortably even in bad weather.
