Westland enjoys successful Glee


One of the busiest stands and go-to destinations at Glee this week was the Westland exhibit. The company had a very successful show, receiving two New Product Awards.

  • Best Wildlife & Pets – Peckish Squirrel Proof Suet Pellets
  • Best Garden Care – Deadfast Rodenticides Range

Westland unveiled new products and developments across its entire portfolio. 


New Horizon 2019 triples the goodness with BIO3

One of the most exciting breakthroughs in growing media for many years – a new product produced from three natural and sustainable ingredients that is indistinguishable in performance, appearance, smell and texture from 100% peat based products – is launched at GLEE by Westland Horticulture.



Killing the competition with Westland’s most effective rodent control range

Westland is taking the rodent control category head-on by delivering a new range of rodenticide to the UK market that are proven to be effective after one dose, as well as premium traps and deterrent alternatives, providing something for every household and lifestyle when it comes to managing home invaders.

Peckish continues growth with new look products

Peckish is furthering its success with the launch of new products, new packaging and new messaging.

The brand, which has had 45% growth year-on-year, will be launching its new look and products at GLEE 2018.  Peckish this year sees its specialist range now showcasing a new look design, and extended offering with the addition of the new Squirrel Proof Suet Pellets.


Gro-Sure Smart Lawn Seed Fast Start – Extending the gardening season

Westland is extending its range of premium lawn seed products with the new Gro-Sure Fast Start, part of the Smart Lawn Seed range. It guarantees excellent results and gives gardeners the opportunity to sow and repair lawns earlier in the season than ever before.

Westland’s new Gro-Sure Fast Start Smart Lawn Seed tackles this problem head on using the proven aqua gel technology, a seed coating that encourages the absorption of water and nutrients, with a specially developed seed varieties that germinate at 7°C. This means the seeds germinate quickly even in cold conditions, giving consumers greater levels of success and satisfaction – and reinforcing the brand’s ‘Guaranteed to Grow’ motto. 


Five new composts mark 80 years of John Innes

Five new composts have been added to Westland Horticulture’s brand-leading range of John Innes composts, as 2019 marks 80 years since the original John Innes formulation was developed.


Westland’s straights range set to attract new consumers with re-launch

Westland has re-launched its market-leading straights and specialist feeds range in order to drive forward this key garden sector category.  The aim is to broaden the reach of these products through clearer and more focused packaging and new off fixture displays.

The specialist straights have been refocused to help drive a forgotten category to whole new audience.  Marloes Rots, brand manager plant feeds at Westland, commented, “On average straights deliver £1.17 more cash in the till vs non-straights, so this is a fundamental category that will benefit from opening up the market.”


Indoors: Turning Trends into Turnover

The houseplant market has seen remarkable growth over the last two years, with GfK reporting sales increasing by 32%, and it is clear to see that this is a trend set to continue.

Westland’s indoor plant care range has seen EPOS sales grow by 38%. New to this year’s range, Westland are launching Hydroleca clay granules. This decorative pot topper creates the perfect microclimate, absorbing water and slowly releasing it to the plant when it needs it.


Resolva Pro Weedkiller – The next generation weedkiller

Westland has announced the substantial growth of its best ever performing weedkiller – Resolva Pro Weedkiller. Retailers who sell Resolva 24H and have added Resolva Pro to their shelf, have seen incremental sales volumes of 17.4% and strong revenue growth in the category.

Daniella Constantine, Brand Manager at Resolva said: “Our support for this product is continuing, with a confirmed advertising investment of £1.2million during peak season in 2019. Our campaign has driven huge success for the brand, which resulted in EPOS volumes jumping by 75% in the week following the launch.”


Unwins launches revamped ranges to appeal to all

Unwins has refreshed its seed range in order to meet all customer needs – from new and novice gardeners through to those who are experienced and committed.   All of the packaging has been updated with a fresh new look and colourful, engaging design. Four new trend collections have also been launched, and  Gro-Sure SEED START, a pre-treatment that can be sprinkled into compost to provide better germination and establishment has been launched.

Westland is passionate about lawns and has grown to become the UK’s number one lawncare brand. In 2019 the company is taking things to the next level with the launch of its complete lawncare program for gardeners, designed to provide simple and effective solutions to common lawn problems throughout the year.


Aftercut Lawncare – A Cut Above the Rest

Westland continues to cement itself as the UK’s number one lawncare brand by improving its already successful Aftercut range with enhanced formulations and the latest technology to provide gardeners with even better results.  Aftercut All in One now has a brand new formulation allowing gardeners to feed their lawn, and kill weeds and moss all in one application.

The Aftercut range forms part of Westland’s new Lawncare Program, designed to provide gardeners with simple solutions to lawn problems throughout the year. It is supported by a £2million investment plan.


Westland partners with Plaswood Group to reduce plastic waste

Westland Horticulture has announced a new recycling initiative with Plaswood Group, a market leader in recycled plastics, which will see used Westland growing media bags being turned into garden benches.

The benches are a traditional picnic style bench, with each being made from over 1,100 compost bags


Resolva Xtra Clean – Cementing Resolva’s Leadership in Path & Patio 

Westland’s ten years of innovation, coupled with its phenomenally successful weedkiller and mosskiller product range in the Path and Patio category, has seen the market leader expand its offering with the launch of the new Resolva Xtra Clean.
