Talking growing media, new plants, dahlias and more

The HTA National Plant Show 2016 is bigger than ever with over 150 stands already booked for this year’s event taking place on 21 – 22 June at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry.

The show’s seminars provide an added extra to the show.

With a focus on plants (goes without saying!) this year’s seminar speakers include: Michael Perry, 'plant hunter' at Thompson & Morgan, David Gillam, General Manager at Abercorn Garden Centre, and Andy McIndoe, garden consultant, as well as the Growing Media Spotlight and The Greatest Retail Awards.

Seminars:

Tuesday 21 June

10am – Growing Media Spotlight, Neil Bragg of Bulrush Horticulture Ltd and Paul Alexander, Head of Environmental and Horticultural Science at the Royal Horticultural Society, together with other representatives from the Growing Media Industry will update the audience with the progress of projects including the Responsible Sourcing Calculator and a Standard Industry Test for the performance of Growing Media.

11am – The New Plant Awards announcement, featuring Andy McIndoe along with the judging panel, will highlight the winning plants and give some background on why they won and how they can help a planterea offering.

12pm – Michael Perry’s day job as the 'plant hunter' at Thompson & Morgan is a role that is hugely varied and has given him some unique opportunities within the gardening media world. Michael will provide a fascinating insight in to his speciality area of new plants and ways to make gardening easier for everyone.

2pm – Tried, Tested and Hidden From Sight, David Gillam, General Manager at Abercorn Garden Centre and Chairman of the National Dahlia Society, will be showing what has been happening in the dahlia world for years and has yet to make it to the general public.

Wednesday 22 June

10am – Growing Media Spotlight, See Tuesday detail.

2pm – The Greatest Retail Awards. As part of The Greatest Awards on Tour 2016, Garden Trade News will celebrate excellence in garden centre retailing and will present the awards at 2pm in the seminar area.

Don’t miss out on these free, interactive and inspiring seminars – they are always popular and so make sure you arrive early if you would like a seat!
