April ends on a high but it's still an average sales month

The last week of April, the second of the Easter Fortnight, was the best week 17 for volume sales since 2011. It was up 18% on last year but that could only help overall April sales to just below last year and almost spot on the average for April over the past nine years.

April turnover will most likely be reported as up year on year and possibly a record by some as the substantial early sales of garden furniture will no doubt have swollen takings whilst not adding huge unit volumes.

Now that Easter and Mother’s Day are past the year to date position of up 13.0% can be reconciled as definitely being weather related. Against 2017 sales the GTN Bestsellers Index is on a par.
