Tipping point at last for peat-free compost?

Have we reached the tipping point for peat free compost? In a month when, with wet ground, the only active gardeners will be keen gardeners?

That usually shows itself in the GTN Bestsellers Growing Media Chart with high sales of peat-rich composts with peat-free and peat-reduced nowhere in sight.

Last week, Westland’s New Horizon All Purpose Compost had a second week in the top three and the New Horizon Veg Compost increased sales dramatically to re-enter at No 47. Time will tell if the media attention this summer is changing consumer buying patterns. Watch this space…

Westland Gro-Sure Farmyard Manure 50 litres more than doubled sales to move up to No.2. So did Evergreen Garden Care's Levington Organic Choice farmyard manure, moving up to No.4. Kelkay's RHS Horticultural Sharp Sand was the highest re-entry at the end of the month.
