AIPH/Green is Life Conference to explore sustainability

Sustainability and marketing in the horticultural sector are on the agenda for the AIPH/Green is Life Horticultural Industry Conference, set to take place on 5th September 2024 at the Green is Life show in Warsaw, Poland.

The Conference is organised by the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) in collaboration with the Polish Nurserymen Association and Green is Life. It is part of the 76th AIPH Annual Congress, which will be held from 3rd-7th September 2024.

With the support of Headline Sponsor Biblo and Conference Sponsors MPS and Royal FloraHolland, the Conference welcomes speakers from around the world to offer insights on the industry in their countries, how growers are moving towards sustainable practices, and how marketing can be employed to boost the sector.

Catherine Muller, President of VALHOR in France, will open the Conference with her presentation ‘Sustainability and marketing initiatives to support the horticultural industry in France’. VALHOR has embedded sustainability within its strategic roadmap to 2030, aiming at enabling companies to manage their environmental challenges while promoting their activities and creating value. Catherine will outline examples of sustainability initiatives being taken up in France.

Greenlife Industry Australia is very active with initiatives to support growers, including in sustainability and promotion. Their Chief Executive, Joanna Cave, will showcase these projects and plans for the future. Edmund Timm, Manager of Commerce, Marketing & Communication for MPS, the Netherlands, will update delegates on how the sector is managing environmental footprinting and how certification is driving sustainability.

Marketing is also key for improving the success of a horticultural business. Ding Wang, better known as ‘Uncle Wang’, is a social media influencer from China who utilises platforms such as TikTok and WeChat to make significant plant sales. In his presentation, he will explain the benefits of gardening live streams and how to use social media platforms for the best results.

The Conference speaker list includes:

  • Catherine Muller, President of VALHOR
  • Edmund Timm, Manager of Commerce, Marketing & Communication, MPS
  • Prof. Dr. Lidia Sas-Paszt, Professor of Agricultural Sciences
  • Dr. Marta Czaplicka, Head of the Department of Horticulture at Wrocław University of Life Sciences
  • Karolina Kaldońska, Magazine Biznes Ogrodniczy
  • Joanna Cave, Chief Executive of Greenlife Industry Australia
  • Ding Wang, CEO of JiaXingYunYao Flower Co., Ltd. and Social Media Influencer
