"I will FIX this issue" Gardman CEO updates GTN Xtra on delivery issues

After GTN passed on a number of comments from readers last week, Gardman CEO Pete Utting gave us this statement regarding their progress in solving the delivery issues from their new Daventry warehouse:

"We are improving but we haven't quite fixed it yet. I think the 2 weeks before Easter will see us through the backlog of orders.

"Customers will continue to see sporadic issues for a couple of weeks, but I am very confident we are close to resolving the issues.

"The issue still is as I explained before which is we have been taken by surprise from the perfect operational storm of

1. A new infrastructure
2. New people
3. New warehouse management system

"It is not any one of these things that have caused the issues, but a combination of all three. Whilst we did very significant planning with lots of experts we have still had issues.

"We will not rest until we have fixed the issue and we are throwing lots of internal and external resources to re-instate our previous very good service.

"Finally - we are not in financial trouble and the management is not changing . I will FIX this issue."

The gardening season hasn't changed for decades. We set up in Jan-Feb, if we're lucky in early March the season might see green shoots, by Easter we must be ready to sell, sell, sell! If you're not from this industry listen to those who are.....Easter is TOO LATE! Every Storm can be forecast (no matter how perfect), only Michael Fish wouldn't have seen this coming!

These issues couldn't have come at a worse time of the year with our pre-season orders and wild bird care being very busy, it has been disappointing but we are glad to hear Gardman have recognised their service issues and are doing their best to get back to normal

its not good enough at the moment, doesn't help my sales and stock control and customers asking when their orders will be coming in - when you ring the office, they cant tell me what stock is coming to us and when
