The RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival took place this week, and members of the Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) and Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) have once again impressed the judges and crowds with their immersive gardens and displays. 

The APL has a stand at the show entitled ‘The Landscape Garden and Design Studio’, a full-feature garden designed by Phil Tremayne and built by Bushy Business. It incorporates all elements from a strong landscaper's point of view: a canopy from Garden House Design, decking from Composite Prime, paving from Bradstone, and water feature elements from Jeremy Hastings and Landscape Plus. Plants are supplied from Form and Fullbrook nurseries, with soil supplied by Bury Hill Top Soil. Attendees are encouraged to bring their landscape project ideas and conundrums along to get professional advice while marvelling at the immaculately crafted features of the garden.

Elsewhere at the show, there are opportunities to look at award-winning gardens built by APL members, including Katerina Kantalis’ The Mediterraneo Garden, which took the Gold Garden medal for its inspiration drawn from the vibrancy of Greece. It provides an escape from every day while addressing the necessity of climate adaptation in our gardens. It also won the Best Get Started Garden and Best Construction Award.

Nic Howard from We Love Plants created the ‘Exodus Adventure Travels: The Sounds of Adventure Garden’ which won the Silver-Gilt medal and Best Construction (Show Garden). Acacia Gardens, which built ‘The Making Sense Garden’, also won a Silver medal, and their owner, Herman Probati, won a Silver medal for his garden, ‘The Way of St James’.

The HTA members have also been picking up awards during the RHS event, with David Austin being awarded the Best Rose Exhibit. Three Silver Gilt medals were also awarded to Burncoose Nurseries, Blue Diamond Group and Peter Beales Roses, respectively.

More displays, trade stands, and gardens are being shown by HTA members, including Blue Diamond Group, Burncoose Nurseries, Crocus, David Autin Roses, The Eden Project, Hortus Loci, Hozelock, J Parker Dutch Bulbs, Majestic Tress, North One Garden Centre and Peter Beales Roses.
