March sales hit a six-year high

GTN Bestsellers EPOS data analysis shows that total sales volumes dipped year on year for the last week of March. It was the second week of Easter last year after all.

Gardening and plant sales, as seen by our charts, all increased however, so the drop in all sales volumes can be accounted for by missing Easter specific sales which are still to come in April.

The final All Sales Volume total for March is a record for the past six years, up 2% on last year and 6% better than the average for the month over the previous six years.

March 2017 couldn’t match the volumes sold in 2011 though.  That year we had a rocking start to the season and Easter was late in April.

At present 2011 sets the GTN Bestsellers benchmark for highest first half year sales volumes – will 2017 follow in the same direction?
