February Veg-2-Gro sales in long term decline

Although the great weather at the end of February drove Veg-2-Gro sales up by 6% on last year the long-term trend is that Veg-2-Gro sales are moving later in the season.

The GTN Bestsellers Veg-2-Gro Top 50 total sales volumes for February this year was 10% down on the levels for 2014 and as you see from our graph below it’s been a steady February decline.

The move towards growing more veg, fruit and herbs from young plants could be the major contributor and last week saw the first influx of Strawberry and Herb plants sell through in high volumes.

  • Quantil Strawberry Cambridge Favourite was the highest new entry at No 8.
  • Farplants Mint Epicure re-entered at No 7.
  • Taylors Seed Potatoes Arran Pilot, 2.5kg, were the highest chart climber moving up 22 places to No 14.
