Focus on fundraisers: Evergreen Garden Care

Evergreen Garden Care has gone above and beyond to support the Greenfingers Charity and help bolster its annual fundraising total, including becoming a Platinum Partner within the charity’s Silver Anniversary Appeal.

Here we find out more about what else this industry colossus has planned for the rest of the year to support the children’s hospice garden charity.

Garden Re-Leaf Day

With hundreds of dedicated staff to draw on, the Evergreen team has been able to get actively involved in several Greenfingers events including the ever-popular annual Garden Re-Leaf Walk.

Whilst Evergreen walkers were raking up on the steps on March 18th, other team members were busy undertaking alternative challenges to rack up the miles, including Richard Fisher, Evergreen Garden Care’s Customer Marketing Manager, who cycled over 120km for the charity. Throughout the Garden Re-Leaf week a special bake sale and quiz also took place, helping to top up the fundraising total.

London Landmarks Half Marathon

In April, Evergreen CEO, Karl Kahofer, Commercial Finance Analyst, Julia Aliseyko along with three others from the business were part of a team of 11 runners that tackled the 13.1mile London Landmarks Half Marathon in the name of Greenfingers. This unique road race, which takes in some of the capital’s most grand, quirky and hidden history, has so far seen Evergreen’s fundraising total reach £2,400.

Talking after the race, Karl Kahofer said: “What a day! The weather held out, the route was scenic, and we had fantastic support along the route from our lovely cheering group!  Most importantly, we were running for a good cause. I’m proud to be involved!”

Three Peaks Challenge

This September (10th – 11th) a team of 14 intrepid Evergreen adventurers will be taking on the infamous Three Peaks Challenge. With a fundraising target of £30,000, and training already underway, this challenge will test the mettle of the fundraisers, as they take on the three biggest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales. The entire Evergreen family is set to get behind the challengers a series of events throughout the year including a bake sale and a raffle, full of prizes kindly donated by customers and agencies.

RHS Chelsea Flower Show

It has also been confirmed that Evergreen Garden Care will also be supporting the Greenfingers Charity at the forthcoming RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Taking place May 24th – 28th, the Evergreen team are looking to replicate the fundraising success they had at the 2021 event, where they offered goody bags in exchange for donations. This year, the team will be offering visitors to the Greenfingers stand a bottle of plant feed in exchange for a minimum donation of £5. Adding an element of fun to the week, the team will also have a special fundraising thermometer on hand to help track the total raised and hopefully encourage more visitors to dig deep.

Special edition pack to support Greenfingers

Finally, Evergreen has launched a special edition Miracle-Gro charity pack in aid of Greenfingers. The Greenfingers Special Edition Peat Free Premium All-Purpose Compost 40L is available now in garden centres nationwide, with an of RRP £7.99.

The special edition pack aims to raise awareness of the charity and the incredible work it does for families across the country amongst garden centre customers. On top of its annual support, it has also been confirmed that Evergreen and the Miracle-Gro brand is donating £5,000 to assist with one of Greenfingers’ latest projects at ‘The Nook’, a purpose-built children’s hospice in Norfolk. This generous donation will see the brand sponsor a space within the garden named ‘The Nest’, which aims to be an outdoor oasis where children and their loved ones can go to rest and recharge.
