Young People in Horticulture Association has unveiled the results of its inaugeral Launch Success Challenge, culminating in the official debut of Bountiful Pink — a vibrant new plant variety — at BBC Gardeners’ World Live.
This milestone marks the collective achievement of ten delegates, all under the age of 35 and from diverse horticultural backgrounds, who have spent the past year developing the plant’s journey from concept to consumer.
The challenge began in the Netherlands at Beekenkamp Plants, where the delegates witnessed the early stages of Bountiful Pink’s development and gained insight into the breeding and propagation process. Over the following months, the group engaged in a comprehensive series of masterclasses focused on branding, marketing, cost analysis, retail logistics, and pitching strategy — all designed to mirror the real-world complexities of launching a new horticultural product.
Their efforts will come to fruition this week with Bountiful Pink’s public launch in partnership with British Garden Centres, placing the plant directly into the hands of UK gardeners. The project not only champions innovation and youth engagement in horticulture but also provides a replicable blueprint for industry-backed, skills-based learning initiatives.
