Martin Breddy set to retire from Squire's Garden Centres

The Board of Directors of Squire’s Garden Centres have announced that Martin Breddy has decided to retire from his role as managing director next summer.

Martin joined Squire’s in May 2016, overseeing steady growth in sales and profit in his early years at the helm. His calm leadership helped the business negotiate the challenges posed by the Covid and Post-Covid period, emerging with a strong platform for renewed growth, and with Squire’s local identity and community reputation, enhanced.

Sarah Squire, Chairman of Squire’s Garden Centres, said: “Martin’s leadership, enthusiasm and business acumen has served us well since he joined. He has ensured the Squire’s proposition remains sharp and relevant as our customer base evolves. His passion for great customer service and commitment to our team members, at all levels, will leave a lasting mark. We will all miss him greatly and wish him all the very best in his retirement.”

Martin commented: “I feel privileged and fortunate to have spent the last nine years of my career in the wonderful business that is Squire’s.  I will miss the constant and ever-changing challenges that our sector throws up. But even more, I will miss the camaraderie and support of everyone at Squire’s and in the wider horticultural industry.”

Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency advisor to Squire’s Garden Centres on Martin's replacement as MD of Squire's Garden Centres. For further information about the role, please visit www.saxbam.com/appointments using reference HBQUA. Alternatively email Belinda.beck@saxbam.com.
