The Old Railway Line raises over £950 for charity

The Old Railway Line Garden Centre has raised an amazing £952 for the local charity Hay & District Dial-A-Ride.

On Thursday 27th June, the independent, family-owned Garden Centre hosted one of their beloved Bingo Nights to raise funds for Hay & District Dial-A-Ride who are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year.

Hay & District Dial-A-Ride is a vital community service with a mission to help customers maintain an independent lifestyle, reduce loneliness and social/rural isolation, and enable residents to feel part of a thriving community. They provide more than just transport services; they offer access to health and community services, which are essential for physical and mental health and well-being.

Matthew Lewis, the Events Manager, said, "We are incredibly proud to support such a wonderful local charity as part of their 30th anniversary celebrations. The turnout for our Bingo Night was fantastic, and it's heartwarming to see our community come together for a great cause. Hay & District Dial-A-Ride plays a crucial role in our community, and we are delighted to contribute to their mission."

He added, “We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this wonderful cause through turning up to our event and taking part in our half time raffle. We hope you had a fun evening of homemade food and exciting Bingo games. Congratulations to all winners who collectively claimed £210 worth of cash and voucher prizes!”

The Bingo Night event drew participants from all over the community, enjoying an evening of delicious home cooked Mexican themed food from the restaurant, fun, prizes, and a shared commitment to supporting local initiatives. The funds raised will go directly to Hay & District Dial-A-Ride, assisting them in continuing their essential services for residents in the area.
