According to the latest HTA trend report (Peak Plastic? Changing consumer perspectives of plastic and recycling) 95% of consumers agree that it’s important for businesses to design products that have less plastic in. A pertinent issue for the garden industry, highlighted recently on BBC Gardeners’ World, the topic features on the programme at the forthcoming Cultivating Retail Conference which takes place on 13 November at East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham.

Autumn Garden Product sales up 7%
Week on Week DOWN 7.7% Year to date vs 2017 DOWN 7.7% vs 2016 DOWN 18.0%

Garden Product sales are now running at 7% up on last year over the past four weeks as gardeners continue to be active in their gardens.  Planting in pots, lawn renovation after the summer, decorative lights and ornaments were the big areas of sales increases.  High winds meant there were plenty of distress purchases of tree ties and tree stakes...
