Baby flown to hospital after incident at garden centre

A baby boy was flown to hospital on Monday after being scalded by water from a teapot at Wimborne, a Wyevale Garden Centre.

Paramedics and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was called to attend the incident which happened just before midday.

A spokesperson for South West Ambulance said they were called to treat a baby for burns from a teapot of water.

The baby was flown to Bristol Royal Hospital for Children by air ambulance.

He suffered a scald to his arm, the ambulance service spokesperson said.

A spokesperson for Wyevale Garden Centres said: “We can confirm that there was an incident in the café of our Wimborne Road Garden centre today, which led to a child being taken to hospital with hot water scalding to his arm.

"The safety of our customers is of the highest importance to us and staff at the garden centre acted immediately so that paramedics were on the scene quickly.

"We are reviewing the circumstances and our best wishes are with the little boy and his family.”
