Bradford garden centre's half term charity planting event raised almost £300

The team at Tong Garden Centre is celebrating after its half term bulb planting event, Little Daffodils, raised £289 for charity.

The garden centre teamed up with Taylors Bulbs to host the family friendly daffodil planting sessions to raise money for the horticultural charity, Greenfingers that creates gardens in hospices for children with life limiting illnesses.

Tong's Head of Marketing, Jo Dales was overwhelmed with the success of the pop-up planting sessions: "We love to encourage children to enjoy growing and gardening and it was fabulous to see over 250 children and their families planting the daffodil bulbs. We're looking forward to seeing pictures of their blooms in spring."

A spokesman from Taylors Bulbs said that, although the bulb planting was intended to be a one-off event to celebrate their centenary year, it was so successful that they are looking at the possibility of making it an annual event.

Tong Garden Centre was one of 150 garden centres nationwide who supported the fundraising initiative.
