Pastels trend to boost Mothers' Day sales this year, say G Plants

Seed, bulb and GYO gift pack suppliers G Plants say the interiors trend for pastels will come into its own via garden centre sales this Mother's Day (6th March).

To help retailers take advantage of this anticipated sales opportunity, the company has launched 22 exciting new products that make the most of this colour trend including Mini Greenhouse Seed Starter Kits, Rattan Flower Hanging Baskets, Kitchen Herb Pots, Sweet Pea Trellis Grow Sets, Premium Coloured Barrel and Handbag Planters, and Bulb Gift Bags.

Director of G Plants Alex Reihl said: "Trends like this are a fantastic opportunity to not only increase profits during the beginning of the garden retail season, but also to show your customers you are relevant, up-to-date and stocking the kind of products they're looking for."

G Plants' ‘Indoor Flavours’ is a particular seasonal gift range that has been bolstered for 2016 to reflect the latest colour trend. Available in outers of 10 and priced at £4.99 RRP, the new 'Sweet Scented' 3-in-1 pack is an easily merchandised gift product, with packaging displaying inspiring imagery of the finished product. Each gift set includes three pastel growing pots, Lavender, Spearmint and Rosemary herb seed sachets.

An all-new range of Beautifleur Premium Coloured Barrel and Handbag planters draw heavily from the pastel trend with each set including either a traditional barrel pot or more contemporary handbag planters, both in a choice of pastel shades.

Another new addition to the Beautifleur range is a set of three different varieities of Sweet Pea Trellis Grow Sets (available in cases of 24, £3.99 RRP), which have a unique dual purpose label that is designed to appeal to customers on the shelf as well as in the garden, thanks to the easily detachable mini trellis that forms part of the packaging.

Another pastel influenced product includes new Rattan Flower Hanging Baskets, displayed peeking out of its cutaway packaging which includes seed mixtures and a bag of compost - available in mulitples of 4 and designed to retail at £8.99 RRP.

Easy to pick up and carry Supersize Gift Bags each come with a set of either Dahlia Collarette & Pompon mix (£5.99 RRP) or Lily Oriental bulbs, (available as a smaller sized grab bag, £3.99 RRP).  Both re-usable bags come in attractive colours to further add to pastel themed displays.

Busy Lizzie, Sweetpea and Petunia Mini Greenhouse Seed Starter kits are another new addition to G Plants’ gift set offering, available in printed CDU’s of 18, for retail at just £1.99 RRP each.  The kits join the other all-in-one Grow-Your-Own sets and each include propagation lids, compost and seeds designed for easy sowing from scratch.

A new Kitchen Herb Pot is also available, and comes in an attractive white display pot, containing 5 varieties of herb seeds including basil, chives, oregano, parsley and thyme along with a growing medium, which retails for £7.99 RRP and is available in cases of 6.

Other essential Mother's Day gift items available from G Plants feature popular galvanised buckets, rattan hanging baskets, and ceramic glazed pots.
