Bents creates new job roles to focus on its people

After what have been a challenging couple of years for all, Bents Garden & Home is refocussing its strategy to its colleagues and introducing a number of new positions within the company, designed to make ‘Bents an Exceptional Place to Work’.

Former HR Manager Kate Ganley, returns to the Centre as Head of People, a new position which will form part of the Senior Team and will help plan talent development and growth for the future.  Kate will work closely with Katherine Bent who takes up the new role, Head of Culture.

The family owned and run centre has always recognised the importance of its colleagues and works hard to ensure their team of over 385 are happy, motivated and engaged; wanting to take pride in their work place and deliver exceptional customer service.

The pandemic has left an impact on all, with everyone dealing with challenges in their own way, but as a new normal starts to return, Bents wants to further improve colleague engagement and believes the new appointments will prove very beneficial.

Says Matthew Bent, Managing Director of Bents Garden & Home:  “A lot has happened over the past couple of years, with so much out of anyone’s control.  It was inevitable that people were going to be affected, which is why we are prioritising our colleagues and are committed to making Bents an exceptional place for them to work; it’s one of our key objectives for 2022 and across the coming years.

“We are delighted to welcome Kate back to the business.  She was a brilliant HR Manager and has since gained even more experience with new ideas she can bring back to the business. We know she will be a major asset and we can’t wait to welcome her back.”

Working alongside Kate and Katherine will be 14 new Culture Champions, colleagues from all areas of the business who will help to develop and promote positivity in the workplace.

Says Matthew:  “We want every colleague to feel motivated and enjoy working with us so we feel it is important to put this investment and energy into our people.  We believe our Culture Champions will be another great addition to help motivate our teams.”
