On course for a record January
Exclusive GTN Bestsellers garden centre Epos data analysis

January garden centre sales are heading for a new record volume level for the month, according to Epos data analysed weekly by GTN Bestsellers. Sales are not only up on 2021 levels, when we were in Lockdown #3, but to date, after three weeks of the month, are 15% ahead of 2019 levels, the previous best start to January recorded by GTN Bestsellers.

After the initial rush to scoop up early bird gardening offers and Christmas sales running down, week on week volumes dropped for product sales but plant sales moved up by 8.5%.

Garden centres are also reporting garden furniture sales as soon as products go out on display, which will be pushing turnover for the month up to unprecedented levels.

And at every garden centre we’ve visited this week catering has been going great guns.  Hopefully the weather stays on our side for this weekend and into February.
