Durston Garden Products remember Jim Kelly

Durston Garden Products has announced the passing away of its much-loved sales agent, James (Jim) Kelly, who died in late 2021, aged 84 years.

Mr Kelly was the North-East sales agent for Durston Garden Products, having begun his career with the company in 2009.

Speaking about Jim’s passing Durstons’ Sales Director, Dan Durston, said: “It was Glee 2008 when Chris Durston and Ron Perry recruited Jim over a glass of whisky, after a hard day’s work at the show! From then on, he became an integral part of our team and there is no question that he will be hugely missed by all of us and those that had the pleasure of working with him.

“Jim had several agencies when he started with us but slowly gave them all up over the years to focus solely on Durstons, as he had a real passion for selling our offering.  He built up the account from a relatively small size to something considerable by 2021, much of which was due to his incredible nature – people couldn’t help but smile when they were around him. Jim was extremely passionate about his customers and could be often found coming to the management team to ask for special deals. I know they will all be saddened to hear of his passing.”

Dan added that Jim will be best remembered for his dedication to the role, which often saw him “working regardless of day or time”, as well as his “brilliant sense of humour that always saw him looking for the humour in any situation.”

Dan, who attended Jim’s funeral in York on December 13th along with other members of the Durstons team, added. “We would all like to extend our sincere condolences to all of Jim’s family as we know his passing will leave a large hole in their lives. And to Jim – thank you for everything. You will be missed.”

Mr Kelly was husband to Brenda, father to Nigel and Martin, father-in-law to Susan and Louise and grandfather to Jordan, Harry and Shea.
