Supreme is kind to the Earth with new bathing sand

Supreme Petfoods is relaunching Tiny Friends Farm Bathing Sand in new eco packaging, in line with strong consumer trends and more environmentally friendly shopping habits.

The new pouch pack uses 85% less packaging than before and is 100% recyclable. It also takes up 96% less space for transportation, while also helping retailers generate more margin from available shelf space.

Tiny Friends Farm Bathing Sand is an absolute essential for chinchillas that need to clean their very dense coat daily using dry sand. Small pets like hamsters, gerbils and degus also enjoy using bathing sand as a treat, two or three times a week.  The product needs to be very soft and fine in order not to damage delicate skins, naturally absorb excess oils and ensure the even distribution of natural lubricants on the hair itself.

Supreme Marketing Manager Claire Hamblion says recent data shows that consumers are increasingly prepared to pay a premium for ‘green’ products.

“We introduced the new eco-friendly pack because it was the right thing to do and also because it increases the appeal of bathing sand to owners of small pets.

"It’s a piece of new product development that we’ve been able to initiate without adding cost, while increasing appeal.

"Our typical purchaser is a young adult, probably millennial, often a multi-pet owner and highly engaged in decision making around their pet purchases.

"We want to make sure we tick all their boxes for them and in turn, it makes it much easier for retailers to recommend our brands.”

The 1 kg pack is the same size as before but thanks to its more uniform shape and smaller footprint, it’s now even easier to stock and stack on shelf. Just 2.5 cm of sand in an open tray is enough for a weekly clean up and the sand should be replaced completely once a week. Tiny Friends Farm Bathing Sand has a RRP of £3.99 and is available from all good pet product wholesalers.
