First details of the new plants to be shown at this week’s Garden Trials and Trade 2019 event in the Netherlands (Plantarium building, 11-13 June) were released last week.
They include:
Clematis 'Evipo098' (Sarah Elisabeth. Pink flowers with nicely contrasting red anthers appear abundantly from late spring until the end of autumn. The plant is a good repeat bloomer, grows to about 1.2m and needs to be pruned back hard. Bred by The Guernsey Clematis Nursery.
Clematis 'Evipo111'(Tranquilité) is an attractive and abundantly flowering clematis suitable for small gardens due to its compact growth. The flowers have pale blue sepals with a light vein fading to white, which contrasts with reddish-brown stamens. It would be ideal against a background of dark leaves or among free-standing bushes or roses. The plant grows to approx. 1.2m tall and needs to be pruned back hard. Bred by The Guernsey Clematis Nursery
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Hocomagicevo'(Magical Evolution) is a strong Hydrangea macrophylla with large pink or blue flowers and a short and compact shape, so growth regulators are unnecessary. The variety is suitable for both indoors and in the garden.
Hydrangea paniculata 'HYLV02'(Whitelight®) is one of the first true patio plum hydrangea varieties. The compact plant branches well and features dark green leaves which contrast with its flowers, which start out lime-coloured before turning cream and eventually white, then light pink in autumn.
