Garden Decoration boosts product sales in garden centres

Garden Decoration, led by garden lighting, is fast becoming the leading area for garden product sales with 42% of the GTN Bestsellers Top 50 Garden Products going to garden lighting lines.  That’s almost double for the same week last year.

So how big will garden decoration be at Glee next month? We know of several companies that have significant launches of new products for the show, many of which may become bestsellers next year.

Paris Natar, Chairman of Smart Garden Products, whose Eureka! Light Bulbs are No 1 again this week, told GTN Bestsellers: “If you want to look at trends, there does seem to be a shift away from core gardening to instant and decorative gardening. People are happy to add artificial items to their real plants.”

Jonathan Stobart, Managing Director at Smart Garden Products, added: “We’ve got some extensions in our décor category and new designs of the solar light flowers that maximise on the fusion of solar lighting and garden decoration.”

After the Christmas decoration season garden centres sit down and plan their ranges and displays for the following Christmas, so we wonder how many garden centres will this year be visiting Glee having already thought about their ‘Garden Decoration’ displays for 2017?

And will those thoughts and plans spread across garden furniture and plants? You wouldn’t plan your Christmas areas without special plans for poinsettia and live trees as key parts of Christmas decoration, so how about taking the same approach for spring and summer garden decoration?
