Cut the plastic – make the switch
GTN Xtra promotion for Acopia

Did you know that 79% of all the plastic ever produced is still in the environment?

Are you feeling the pressure to make your garden centre or network more sustainable?

The spotlight is certainly on the sector after programmes like The Trouble with Garden Centres highlighted concerns surrounding an industry that consumers naturally see as ‘green’.

None of us can shy away from our corporate and personal responsibility to reduce single use plastics at any time of the year.

However, as spring is a time of change, it makes sense for garden centres to take continued steps for a sustainable 2020.

We're here to support you and the transition with easy, simple product swaps that your customers can see immediately to show that you care about the environment.

Compostable Bags

We supply true 100% compostable bags that consumers can dispose of harmlessly at home after use. Our bags comply with European Standard EN 13432 which means your shoppers can add them to their compost heap, put them into their garden waste bin or even in their food waste bin. Our bags are made from potato starch and will breakdown entirely to become a nutrient rich compost – something your customers are sure to love! This product is certainly in great demand with the garden centres we work with.

A word of caution – not all compostable bags are made equal! Some are only suitable for industrial composting which will be completely inappropriate for your customers’ home compost heap. Also bags claiming to be biodegradable may sound like a great benefit for your customers but these can break down to leave behind harmful micro plastics.
