Snow causes growing media sales to drift down to November levels

Only six growing media lines managed a week on week increase as the bad weather stopped overall growing media sales in their tracks.

The GTN Bestsellers Top 50 sales volume last week was lower than any week in November last year but total sales this year are still running at plus 10.3% on the back of excellent early bird offers.

Highlights were:

  • Strulch Organic Straw Mulch, 100 litre packs, was the highest re-entry as gardeners looked for added frost insulation for their plants.
  • Westland Houseplant Potting Mix with Seramis, 4 litres, entered the Top 50 for the first time at No 20.
  • Scotts Levington Essential Top Soil, 35 litres, moved furthest up the chart, climbing 32 places to No 10.
