Great start to Christmas sales in garden centres

Christmas 2018 has opened with a bang again, just behind last year in terms of Top 50 volume sales, but well ahead of the previous three festive seasons.

This week sees our first GTN Bestsellers Christmas Products chart and now is the key to delivering early impulse sales. Over half of the Top 50 lines are new to the chart and it’s the same story in the Top 10 too.

And interest in Christmas hasn’t deterred people from buying core gardening lines. The Bestsellers Garden Products, Growing Media and Wild Bird Care charts all show volume sales increases – up on the same week last year.

GTN Bestsellers Top 50 sales volumes compared to the same week last year (week 40)

  • Garden Products - up 6%
  • Growing Media - up 5%
  • Veg-2-Gro - down 16%
  • Wild Bird Care - up 6%
  • All Plants Index - down 6%
  • All Items Index - down 6%
