Wood symbolises strength and stability, EKJU furniture adds beauty

When you enter our EKJU wood furniture factory in Latvia, the first thing you see is a Danish designed picnic table. Throughout the factory, you will see many more. This is a staple product for us and is equally popular in the smaller children’s size. Another catalogue winner is the heavy-duty double-bench seat.

But don’t make the mistake of thinking EKJU only makes boring products. Our large and complex catalogue is full of innovative wood products for the international market. The creative use of wood sits at the core of our DNA.

We design garden furniture for lazy sunny afternoons in the family garden and bespoke outdoor furniture for restaurants and bars. We also make flower boxes, vegetable and flower bed surrounds, cold frames, trellises in multi designs, arches for your roses, fences to keep out the neighbours, and pergolas. You can have the pattern and colour of wood you want with coloured impregnations or water-based flow coat painting. Your final product assembly is easy to do using step-by-step manuals.

We have historically sourced our wood from Latvia and northern countries. Northern trees grow healthy and strong, having high density and quality. We increase the durability of products by pressure treatment and by adding our own preservative system to protect against fungi, woodworms, bears, and the elements. In the last two years we have also sourced thermos treated wood from Finland. Thermos treated products are non-toxic which is especially important for families with young children and animals.

We now also buy Austrian Larch. It’s the heaviest, hardest, and long-lasting softwood and is popular in the Western European market. We can also burn names and logos onto products for company customers. Finally, we waste nothing in our factory as any wood offcuts power our drying kilns.
