Onduline making a stand for Alton Garden Centre

When it comes to selecting new products to display in Essex’s largest garden centre, Andy Bunker, Director at Alton Garden Centre, knows all too well the importance that Point of Sale (PoS) displays can have on helping to drive sales and influence impulse purchases.

Here, Andy talks about ONDULINE’s innovative approach to PoS and how the leading supplier of lightweight roofing sheets is helping Alton Garden Centre increase sales with its EASYLINE range.

Currently celebrating its 50th year in business and recognised as one of the most prestigious garden centres in the South East, it’s no surprise that the directors of Alton Garden Centre are extremely selective with the choice of home and garden products that go on display.

Stocking an extensive range of garden buildings, the company is famous for its award-winning displays, many of which they are able to create in-house to suit the design of the overall store.

And one solution that has been given its own dedicated area in the garden centre is ONDULINE’s EASYLINE range, which is made up of lightweight and compact sheets and ridges that help improve the overall appearance and lifespan of a roof in comparison to traditional roof felt.

As Alton Garden Centre comes to the end of its second season working with the lightweight roofing system manufacturer, it’s more apparent than ever that the EASYLINE range is becoming increasingly popular with Alton’s customers.

A compact and lightweight roofing system, EASYLINE is perfect for sheds, studios, pet shelters and other garden buildings and annexes and can be easily fitted into the boot of a typical family car.  The range is available in several bright colours and compares favourably to traditional shed felt thanks to its 10-year waterproofing guarantee and ease of installation.

With each sheet made of 50% to 60% recycled fibres and containing no hazardous substances, it makes it completely safe for people and family pets.

Along with the user-friendly qualities of the product, one of the key drivers for Alton Garden Centre’s success with EASYLINE has been ONDULINE’s PoS displays.

These attractive, striking and free-standing displays that showcase the range, complete with accessories and fixings, are ideal for garden centres and other leisure retailers because they are simple to stock on the shop floor.

Director of Alton Garden Centre, Andy Bunker, said: ‘’I was first introduced to ONDULINE’s EASYLINE range at the industry GLEE Awards.  As one of the judges of these prestigious awards, I’m lucky enough to gain a fantastic insight into a raft of new products and industry innovations, some of which we then can capitalise on within our garden centre.

“Since introducing the EASYLINE range, sales of the product have gone from strength to strength.  Clearly demand for garden products throughout the pandemic has helped this, but our customers also like the fact that EASYLINE is lightweight and easy to cut and install.  On top on this, many also like its eco-credentials, which are becoming more and more important with today’s consumer.

“The standalone PoS display units from ONDULINE have really helped drive sales too.  The displays look fantastic, with strong branding and clear communications, making a great impact on our customers and helping to influence impulse purchases. The displays also include a QR code that, when scanned, leads the customer to a simple-to-follow installation video.

But it’s not just the standout PoS displays and the quality of the EASYLINE range that is helping drive growth, it’s also the way Alton’s expert team have got behind the product too.

Andy continued: “At Alton Garden Centre, we are extremely proud to have a highly experienced and expert team on-hand to help our customers who really get behind the products that they can see the benefits of.

“From the outset, ONDULINE’s EASYLINE range has been one that both our staff and customers trust will serve them well, looking just as great on display as it will in their garden spaces.”
