How long can the record demand for growing media continue? Last week’s sales volumes were 35% higher than the average volume sold in the first week of July from 2014 through to 2019.
That is great for garden centre sales and pleasing customers as they decorate their gardens with plants. But, as the demand increases the problems with making the changes to Peat-free become even greater. A lot has to change in a short time unless a case can be made for the responsible use of peat in appropriate cases.
Highlights of the week were:
Westland Multipurpose Compost with John Innes 50 litres remains at No 1 in the GTN Chart.
Westland Multipurpose with John Innes 10 litres is the highest re-entry at No 23.
Westland Gro-Sure Lawn Seeding Soil 30 litres climbed furthest up the growing media chart, up 19 places to No 28.
