Another great week for garden product sales

Garden products are still benefiting from the high footfall at garden centres with the GTN Bestsellers chart showing sales volumes nearly 24% higher than last week and 14% above the same seven-day period in 2012. In fact the volumes are higher than any of the first 13 weeks of 2013.

There’s no doubt that seasonal house plants are driving sales of associated products, like the Fito Drip Feeder for Poinsettia and Christmas Cactus, which has taken over the top spot.

Scheurich Cover Pots then fill Nos 2 and 3 with Dark Red and Cream, and the smaller 7cm Red Cover Pot is the highest new entry at No 35.

Decorative animals are also proving popular as Vivid Arts fill three of the top 10 places with Playful Polar Bear (sitting and standing versions) and Playful Penquin. The Small Robin is also a new entry at No 46.

Smart Solar Bright Eye Stoney Owl is another newcomer to the chart, arriving at No 44.

Maybe some of these items are being bought as Christmas presents. The highest climber, Yeoman Soft Grip Secateur Raspberry Red is another example.

The highest re-entry is a Bestsellers favourite – Classic Wheelie Bin Numbers. Are people using them to make bespoke ‘Santa Stop!’ signs?
