Drop in plant sales volumes
Despite an overall drop in plants sales volumes this week, the number of the Top 50 plants by genus sold increased by 8%.
This week we’ve included a graph (below) so that you can see the relative sales volumes of each of the Top 25 bestselling plant genuses. For the first time this year we see Pelargonium sales now exceeding double that of the No 2 genus Dahlias.
Two plant genus were big movers during the week ending 17th July. Nepetia (Cat Mint) increased sales by almost 700% to enter the chart at No 14 and Leucanthemum (Ox eye daisies) climbed 21 places up to No 25 with sales up by 84%.
The plant Top 50 highlights this week were:
- Pelargoniums outsold Dahlias by 70% even though sales volumes tailed off by 5% from the previous week.
- Alpines as a group (which we are unable to separate out by genus) increased sales by 17% week on week to be only 8% behind the sales of Pelargoniums.
