As the country wrapped up against the snow and freezing conditions over the weekend of Garden Re-Leaf and Mother's Day, garden centres throughout the land were encouraged by an increase in buying activity in their stores.
Kernock Park Plants, supplier of Garvinea Gerbera to the UK, has scooped another prestigious award – winning the plants category of the Sanoma Garden Awards in Holland.
Garvinea was praised for its unique and extremely long flowering period. The jury particularly emphasised the innovative nature of this robust and hardy garden plant, which makes the beloved Gerbera available to all garden lovers out there.
“We are really pleased to be able to bring another great series of plants to the UK marketplace,” says Bruce Harnett, MD of Kernock Park Plants.
“These hardy Gerbera are a breeding innovation of an already popular favourite, so we can see why they are winning the hearts of experts and consumers alike.”
Kernock Park Plants agreed the deal with Florist Holland BV to supply Garvinea to the UK in September of 2012 and are planning to expand the range that they offer in 2014 with spider-type flower versions of Garvinea.
The Garvinea had already won the HortiFair Innovation Award 2009 and the Golden Florall Award 2010.
