Colegrave Seabrook Foundation receives support from The Worshipful Company of Gardeners

The Colegrave Seabrook Foundation has received support from The Worshipful Company of Gardeners for their HortTech Award. This scholarship, worth up to £5,000, is designed to support work in developing cutting edge technologies in the field of horticulture.

Technology is becoming increasingly important in horticulture. A number of colleges and universities now have specialist technical programmes working on projects to respond to some of our industry’s biggest challenges. These might be looking at ways to reduce labour inputs, improve growing conditions and post-harvest ‘shelf-life’ or other high-tech applications in the growing, harvesting or dispatch of a wide range of horticultural products.

Applications are invited from students or academics who can display a keen interest in HortTech. This interest is likely to be demonstrated by students through specific practical work in this area or by academics who are actively engaged in the teaching and/or development of horticultural technologies and who are looking for funding to develop or further their existing work on new technology.

Speaking on behalf of The Worshipful Company of Gardeners, John Gilbert, Master of the Worshipful Company of Gardeners, said: “The Worshipful Company of Gardeners of London Charity Trustees are delighted to support this award and to be working with the Colegrave Seabrook Foundation to further the use of technology within the horticultural industry.”

Jeff Colegrave, chair of the Trustees of The Colegrave Seabrook Foundation, added: “The development of new technologies within our industry is hugely important and this backing from The Worshipful Company of Gardeners will enable us to support new research and drive this exciting sector of horticulture forward. We are delighted that our work in this field has been recognised by The Worshipful Company of Gardeners and look forward to developing a close relationship to promote this award.”

Students, academics or other eligible individuals who are interested in applying for this scholarship should visit HortTech Award - Colegrave Seabrook Foundation where they can find more details about this scholarship and apply online. Application deadline is 31 January 2023.
