Mill Race Garden Centre set to close on August Bank Holiday

August Bank Holiday Monday has been earmarked for the last day of trading for Mill Race Garden Centre in Essex, following its sale.

Established in the 1970s as Mill Race Nursery, the business has developed to a concern covering more than 7-acres with a coffee shop and aquatics centre.

The sale was handled by Christie & Co and originally put up for sale in November 2024 for around £2.4m. Christie & Co was unable to provide any further comment at this stage.

The Seaby family announced the sale to its customers via its Facebook page in July.

Dear Valued Customers,

We wish to inform you of an important update regarding Mill Race Garden Centre, Swallow Aquatics Colchester and the Kingfisher Coffee Shop.

We will be closing our doors on Bank Holiday Monday, 25th August due to the site being sold.

Swallow Aquatics at East Harling in Norfolk, Rayleigh and Gravesend are unaffected by this Announcement.

**A Heartfelt Thank You**

We would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to all our dedicated staff for their loyalty and hard work over the past 20 years. Their commitment has been invaluable in making Mill Race Garden Centre including Swallow Aquatics Colchester a cherished place for both our team and customers.

Equally, we extend our sincere thanks to you, our valued customers, for your unwavering support and custom throughout these years. It has been a pleasure serving you, and we cherish the relationships we've built within the community.

**Continuing Our Online Presence**

While all retail operations at the site will cease, including the branch of Swallow Aquatics inside the garden centre, we are pleased to announce that our online business will continue as usual from its existing location. This means you can still enjoy shopping with us from the comfort of your home.

**Honouring Warranties**
