RHS announces new licensed range of wild bird food

The Royal Horticultural Society has announced a new licensing agreement with Harvest Wildlife Products, a leading manufacturer of wild bird food in the UK, for a wide range of RHS-branded wild bird food using a variety of carefully prepared recipes suited to many popular breeds.

Created in collaboration with the Royal Horticultural Society, RHS Gourmet Wild Bird Food is a premium range of seed blends and high-energy suet treats specially developed to bring more wildlife into gardens.

Each recipe is carefully crafted with high-quality ingredients to attract a wide variety of birds, from robins and songbirds to finches and tits, at key times of the year.

This comprehensive range includes suet coconuts, blocks, pellets and fat balls in both Fruit & Nut and High Energy flavours, as well as a selection of specialist seed mixes such as Robin & Songbird Blend and Small Garden Bird Blend. All the recipes combine outstanding nutrition with industry expertise.

The packaging includes tubs and packs in a variety of sizes to suit gardens big and small, while the glorious flora and fauna illustrations used in their design are inspired by horticultural and botanical imagery from the RHS Lindley Collections, within which the RHS holds the world’s finest collection of botanical art, containing more than 30,000 superb artworks.

Sustainability also plays a key role in this range. Harvest Wildlife Products uses responsibly sourced, traceable ingredients and a unique on-site cleaning process to ensure each product is packed with goodness. Suet products are all enhanced with human-grade beef tallow, a high-quality, readily digestible fat source which is rich in essential vitamins and sourced from British farms.

The company offers recyclable packaging wherever possible and actively reduces its carbon footprint through smarter logistics and transport optimisation.

Following very positive previews at Glee, the UK's leading outdoor home and garden trade show, and the Pets and Aquatics Trade Show (PATS), both of which took place in September at the NEC, the new range arrived in a number of selected retailers, including garden centres, pet shops and wholesaler stores, across the UK and online, in January. Wider distribution will take place in the coming months.

Headquartered in rural Lincolnshire, Harvest Wildlife Products is a leading British manufacturer of high-quality wild bird food, with over 125 years of expertise.

Its complete range of nutritious options that benefit UK garden birds is supported by the company’s website resources that include advice on understanding the right bird food and feeding techniques, helping customers to choose the perfect bird feeders and wild bird seed mixes to attract and nourish wild birds safely and effectively.

Investment in state-of-the-art technology enables efficient year-round production. The company has achieved certifications from food safety and quality certification programme BRCGS and Sedex, a global technology company that specialises in empowering supply chain sustainability.

Matt Bryant, CEO of Harvest Wildlife Products, says: “At Harvest, our commitment to providing the best for wild birds is rooted in our core values – values we share with the UK’s favourite gardening charity. We’re delighted to have worked with the RHS on these ranges and we’re sure that retailers, customers and, of course, wild birds, will love them.”

Cathy Snow, Licensing Manager, RHS, adds: “The RHS always aspires to enhance the joy people experience in their gardens. That’s why developing RHS-branded wild bird food blends and treats specially developed to bring more wildlife into gardens was a very attractive proposition – and working with one of the leading manufacturer of wildlife products in the UK has been a perfect way to make that happen!”
