Over £30,000 raised at Greenfingers Charity Dinner

In late November 138 guests descended upon the Grade II-listed Pendley Manor Hotel in Tring to enjoy a superb evening full of delicious food, networking with friends and colleagues and, more importantly, put the fun back into FUNdraising all in the name of Greenfingers. The fundraising element was so strong that throughout the evening, more than £30,000 was raised for the children’s hospice garden charity.

Compered by Greenfingers’ Patrons, Jim Carter and Imelda Staunton CBE, the evening saw several key supporters awarded for their efforts throughout 2023, including GIMA, Meadow View Stone, Glee, The Horticultural Golfing Society, Millbrook Garden Centres, Woodmansterne, Glee and the HTA.

During dinner, an auction also took place with guests fighting it out to secure the best prizes for themselves. From the perfect garden bundle kindly gifted by Gardena to behind-the-scenes access to Imelda’s upcoming West End Show, ‘Hello, Dolly!’, the auction was filled with generous prizes and saw some friendly competition push the fundraising total higher and higher.

Elsewhere, a silent auction took place, which included holidays galore, tickets to see Taylor Swift, multiple Michelin-starred dining experiences and access to some of the most highly sought sporting events.

Finally, Greenfingers Chair, Sue Allen, confirmed that the charity has now passed the halfway mark for its ambitious Silver Anniversary appeal, which sees the charity attempting to raise £2,000,025 before 2025.

Linda Petrons, Director of Fundraising & Communications at the Greenfingers Charity said: “A huge thank you to everyone that joined us at the Greenfingers Charity Fundraising Dinner. Once again, it was a truly wonderful evening and showcased the incredible support that so many have for the charity and the work we do.

“Thanks must go to Jim and Imelda for being such great hosts, and to all of those that provided prizes and dug deep to help us raise more than £30,000. Whilst we don’t yet know who will be sunning themselves on a private island next summer thanks to our silent auction, we do know that the evening’s fundraising total will go a long way in helping us to create even more magical and therapeutic garden spaces. Spaces, where children get to enjoy time outdoors, where families spend quality time together, and those left behind come to remember those lost, are more important than many of us will ever truly realise. Being able to continue to design and build these spaces is an honour, and it is only possible due to the generosity of our supporters so thank you to each and every one of you.”
