Our client is a prestigious group of garden centres who are seeking an outstanding Garden Centre or Retail General Manager with a solid retail background behind them to manage this flagship store. This centre is a much as destination for people looking for a day out as it is a place for the keen gardener to find every gardening product their hearts desire. They have a fantastic café which servers a full English breakfast to an afternoon tea, concessions, farmers market, attractions for children and as well as a stunning plant centre.
The role
For this role they are looking to find an exceptional individual who has a superior retail background and is an all rounder who can manage a destination as well as retail outlet.
- The successful candidate must be capable of managing a dedicated team of department managers and ensuring that above all they provide outstanding customer service as well as deliver on sales targets set.
- They will take control of costs and set budgets, reporting to the Finance Director and working closely with him and the other Directors to ensure profit targets are meet.
- Must have good commercial acumen and be able to spot trends and have the ability to increase turnover.
- Good knowledge of and be able to manage Health and Safety, Security and Human Resources issues.
The candidate
The desired candidate will ideally have experience of managing a large outlet either high street, supermarket or garden centre. An appreciation and or knowledge of the garden retail sector. Be adaptable and capable of working within a family business. Have superb communications skills and have the ability to demonstrate exceptional man-management.
