We look forward to working with the team at Linlithgow and to developing our offering there”.
The Sheikh brothers will continue to focus on their main site, Rouken Glen Garden Centre in Glasgow, which is unaffected by the sale.

It was smiles all-round as the 50th anniversary of Glee, taking place at the NEC Birmingham last week, proved to be a big hit with exhibitors and visitors. Everyone agreed there was a tremendous buzz around the show. GTN Xtra caught up with Show Director, Matthew Mein to get his feedback on how the three-day event was a huge success for the garden industry.
"I agree the buzz is back. I've been fortunate enough over the last two days to get around and talk to lots of different buyers about the show. I think there's just an overwhelming joy that we've moved the show to September. I think it's really been galvanized today by the feedback we've had. We've had so many great buyers coming in already over the last day and a half. The general feedback has been positive with lots of big buying groups right the way through to some of those smaller, independent garden centers who now have the availability to come to a show in September."
The Glee Daily News team have spoken to lots of retailers over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday, in fact, it's been difficult getting around the show without bumping into people that wan't to stop and say hello. They've all commented how good the show is, how they found loads of new stuff, they particularly like all the areas we're in Hall 9 where there are many smaller exhibitors. We really recommend anybody who comes tomorrow (Thursday) to come and visit the smaller stands in Hall 9 because there's just so much good stuff there for people to look at and buy.
Matthew added: "The specific sectors where we are getting great feedback include retail services and experiences where there are some really interesting exhibitors that will help garden centres aid their business. Whether it's shop fitting right the way through to catering solutions. Then moving into the home and gift village, that's also in Hall 9, there are some really fantastic brands in there that will help, I think, especially pre-Christmas, to get some additional impulse sales.
"The other area, you know, which we've growth in this year is the pet section. There are some really interesting pet food brands and pet accessory brands at Glee 2024. Something again for garden centres to make their pet offering a little bit more interesting, a little bit more engaging. And again, thinking about the time of year, some of the product is regular weekly sellers like the pet foods, and also some of the of the gifting items or items to treat your pet, leading up to Christmas and beyond."
The exhibitors at Glee this year have really pulled out the stops, not just in terms of their stands and the way they look, but actually the quality of the new products that they've brought to the show and the new offerings of point of sale and new services.
"There's so much new to be seen," said Matthew, "I would say a lot of colour and vibrancy in everything that's going on with people's branding here at Glee. Looking around the show, the interesting parts I've also found is the sustainability piece as well. Companies that are really looking at how their products are manufactured, made, and packaged.
"Talking to some of the exhibitors despite the UK weather not playing its part its part thsi year there's a lot of positivity looking ahead to next year. And that's the exciting bit. I think people wanted to come together and have that feel good factor saying, come on, let's get on with next year!"

Automatic watering systems have become increasingly popular, allowing gardeners to take time off from manually watering the garden, while having peace of mind that the garden will stay hydrated even if you’re on holiday.
Hozelock is expanding its extensive automatic watering offering with the launch of the new SolarDrip, an ideal solution for pots, flowerbeds and hanging baskets.
This innovative solution is entirely solar-powered, enabling users to water up to 20 pots by harnessing the sun's energy, offering a complete and eco-friendly watering solution.
The timer features a large solar panel face, powering three rechargeable batteries, eliminating the use of electricity and effectively utilising renewable natural resources. A handy hook on the back of the timer allows it to be placed on a flat surface or hung on a wall or flowerpot for added convenience.

With 13 preset watering programmes, users have full control over the duration and frequency of watering, as well as the volume delivered per dripper.
Additional features include a ‘Rain Delay’ function, which pauses watering in response to weather forecasts, helping to conserve water, and a ‘Water Now’ function for immediate watering at any time.
Operating on a water reserve and compatible with rainwater collectors like water butts, the Hozelock SolarDrip not only reduces household water consumption but also takes advantage of rainwater harvesting.
The new SolarDrip, which was previewed at Glee, will officially launch in February 2025 and will be available in all good garden centres, with an RRP of £124.99.

See GTN Xtra's photos of Hawky at T20 Blast Finals Day

GTN's Alan Burdon took time out after Glee to take part in the T20 Blast Finals Day Mascot Race as Hawky, the mascot of the Hampshire Hawks.
After a steady start Hawky was knobbled in the ball pit and then lost a "large" show in the scramble netting, however in true GTN spirit Hawky managed to regain several places to finish about 10th out of 18 mascots.
"Next year I'll make sure no one lands on top of me in the ball pit," said Alan, "I'm hoping I get asked to be Hawky again, what great fun!"

Kate Ebbens, who embarked on a 366 daily run to raise money for Greenfingers this year, was spotted in her running gear at Glee alongside friends from the industry, including GTN editor Trevor Pfeiffer, Mr Plant Geek Michael Perry, and Heidi Towse, a trustee of Greenfingers.
This month Aylett Nurseries & Fallen Fruits are Kate’s September sponsors, and she caught up with them at Glee, as she continued on her journey towards running 1,000 miles and raise £20,000 for the charity.
In her September update Kate said: “Autumn is on its way apparently! I am loving the different seasons as I run through them and what get to see and smell through the UK. Ihad a mini break in the Lake District with over 80 km of hiking/walking and 25km of running – the legs were on fire, but the scenery was breathtaking. On the way to the lakes, I ran with Yorkshire Garden Centres, and kindly Sharon, Katie and Matt ran with me – not the most scenic run but sometimes you just have to find a run that works in between work, holidays!!!”

Kate will be running the10k Vitality London run on 22nd September alongside 10 members of her family.
“Thank you again for all your support and please I only need a small amount of sponsorship because every pound will help ensure Greenfingers Charity are able to create these magical gardens,” she added.

The All-Party Parliamentary Gardening and Horticulture Group held its inaugural meeting in Parliament, electing co-chairs Valerie Vaz MP and Baroness Fookes, as well as officers including Lord Taylor, Sarah Dyke, and 15 other accepted MPs. This inaugural meeting under the new Parliament provided an opportunity to welcome new members and meet the Environmental Horticulture Group (EHG) representatives.
The APPGHG works with the EHG and other industry representatives to advocate for policy change in areas such as planning reform to ensure there are enough green urban spaces; trade and export strategy; green jobs and skills definition; and working with the government to ensure that environmental horticulture is part of its economic growth strategy.
The well-supported group provides a valuable opportunity for the industry to engage with interested Parliamentarians. Over the last year, this has included parliamentary receptions, briefings on the House of Lords Horticulture Inquiry, and visits to the Chelsea Flower Show.
Valerie Vaz, Co-chair of APPG and MP, commented: “I am honoured to be re-elected as Co-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Gardening and Horticulture Group, and I look forward to working with the officers and members of the group. I see a particularly important role for the group as we scrutinise the new Government’s attitude to Horticulture, both ‘ornamental’ and edible. I shall be looking to see how seriously the Government takes this sector's vital role in improving the environment and the health and wellbeing of people. In doing so, I shall call on the expertise of the excellent Environmental Horticulture Group, representing several key players in the industry and charity. I shall also measure the work of the Government by reference to the many recommendations made by the House of Lords Select Committee Report on the Horticultural Sector published in November 2023.”
Jennifer Pheasey, Director of Public Affairs at the Horticultural Trades Association, represented the EHG at the meeting and commented: “We welcome the cross-party support from long-standing industry champions and new parliamentarians at the inaugural APPG meeting. As a sector spread across the four nations of the UK, with 30 million gardeners, invaluable green spaces, and a driver of green economic growth, we know the success of the sector is in the interest of parliamentarians from all parties and both houses. Today’s meeting was an opportunity to discuss the industry's top issues, focusing on cross-border trade and questions on a range of topics. The EHG is looking forward to continuing its support for the APPG in the coming months and years. Given the sector's environmental and economic benefits, it seeks a stronger voice and more champions for environmental horticulture, landscaping, and arboriculture to the heart of Westminster.”
In attendance alongside Parliamentarians were Whitehouse Communications and HTA member Henry Williams from You Garden, who provided first-hand insights into the impacts of cross-border trade issues.

Potr, the creators of the world’s first flat-packed, self-watering planters, has been announced as the winners of this year’s prestigious GIMA Innovators Seed Corn Fund, with Andrew Flynn, founder and designer at Potr, receiving the accolade earlier this morning during the opening day of Glee 2024.
Potr’s revolutionary planters, not only champions sustainability through the use of 100% recycled material but they also open up exciting new opportunities for plant subscription services and gifting, redefining how consumers can access and enjoy gardening.
The letterbox-friendly, flat-pack design solves many logistical challenges of traditional plant pot shipping, offering a more convenient and accessible solution for today’s eco-conscious consumers. Plus, with a CO2 footprint over 100 times smaller than a conventional planter, Potr’s products are a breakthrough in sustainable design. This drastic reduction in environmental impact is achieved through their IP-protected flat-pack system, which uses minimal materials and 100% recycled plastic, making Potr a leader in eco-friendly gardening solutions.
As the ninth recipient of the GIMA Innovators Seed Corn Fund, Potr will receive an incredible prize fund package, comprising a grant of up to £6,000 which includes a year’s full GIMA membership, plus a wide range of business support tools including free exhibition space at Glee and free PR support during the event. In addition, the winners package also includes design, development and manufacturing or marketing cost support up to the value of £3,000; access to an industry business consultant; one-year ACID (Anti Copying in Design) membership; and an advert in the next GIMA Buyers Guide.
Andrew Flynn, Founder and Designer of Potr, shared his excitement: “Winning the 2024 GIMA Innovators Seed Corn Fund is a huge honour. We’ve always believed in the potential of Potr to make a real impact in the gardening industry, and this recognition highlights the importance of sustainability in everything we do. The opportunities this award brings, particularly in plant subscription services and gifting within garden retail, are incredibly exciting, and we look forward to continuing to push the boundaries of eco-friendly design.”
Vicky Nuttall, GIMA Director, added: “We are delighted to announce Potr as the winner of this year’s GIMA Innovators Seed Corn Fund. Their innovative flat-pack design, coupled with a commitment to reducing waste, makes Potr a standout in the market. Their ability to serve the subscription and gifting sectors while drastically reducing their CO2 footprint aligns with the growing demand for sustainable gardening solutions. We look forward to supporting Potr’s growth in the UK market.”

Source Garden, Europe’s newest responsible sourcing show for the gardening sector, has reported a very successful and productive debut show facilitating new connections and bringing together global manufacturers with wholesalers, brands and retailers looking to build the foundations of their new garden product lines.
Launched to help turn brilliant ideas into bestselling product ranges, Source Garden, which ran alongside Glee at the NEC Birmingham this week, welcomed thousands of visitors including Sainsburys (Argos), B&Q, Kingfisher, Decco, Tesco, Blue Diamond, Aldi, Hozelock, The Very Group, Wayfair, Kaemingk, Plants and Plants UK, British Garden Centre Group, Millbrook Garden Centre, Haskins Garden Centre, RSPB, Longacres Garden Centre, St Peters Garden Centre, UK Leisure World, Smart Garden Products, Sturmer Garden Centre, Home Bargains and many more, who attended to experience the quality of materials first-hand and meet with responsible exhibitors who have all undergone auditing.

Suzanne Ellingham, Event Director of Source Garden says, “We’re really pleased with our launch show, we’ve seen some fantastic buyers attend from across retail, keen to meet new, responsible manufacturers and discover new products. Having the confidence in knowing that every exhibitor has undergone a recent audit provides total reassurance for our visitors and reports show that there have been a lot of very positive conversations over the last 3 days.
“Looking around the show, there are some amazing products that will really add to new ranges including some innovative 3D printed porcelain vases from Dehua; compostable paper seed pots; colourful solar powered blown glass garden lights; pet gifting products that would be perfect for any store; wildlife houses that will encourage life into the garden; and outdoor faux floral decorative designs that will work in any outdoor space as well as seeing lots of products that tap into the ‘grow your own’ ranges. That’s before we get to the quality tooling and range of garden building.
“Our Ask the Expert sessions were also well-attended and added another dimension to our show offer. We have created some very good foundations to continue to grow for next year’s show.”

Feedback from the show floor was positive. Yicong Li from Ningbo Jingyou Photovoltaic Technology says, “We are a solar light manufacturer from China, founded in 2009. Our focus is on eco-friendly and economical solar solutions, including wall lights, ground lights, and high-lumen security lights. The UK market is key for us because its environment is ideal for solar lighting, with ample sunlight to fully charge our products. We've had some productive conversations at the show and expect to receive orders following the event. We're already excited to return next year as this show has been a valuable platform for us.”
Laura Zhang, from exhibitor Tainjin Lotov Industry Co. Ltd says, “We came to Source Garden because we want to expand our presence in the UK market. The UK is a key area for us, as it's a great market to explore, and we already have some British clients. We manufacture a range of pet products, including cat toys, scratching posts. We've had productive conversations with potential customers today, and many have shown real interest in our products.”

New to Source Garden, the show welcomed a Vietnamese Pavilion, sponsored by the Vietnam Trade Office in the UK. Hoang Le Hang, First Secretary of Commerce Vietnam Embassy to the UK says, “This is an excellent opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to access the international market, showcasing high-quality, eco-friendly products that reflect the rich cultural heritage of Vietnam. At this year's exhibition, Vietnamese manufacturers introduced a diverse range of products, made from materials grown in Vietnam and certified for sustainable forest development. The products range from garden decorations, materials, and plant care technologies. This has been an excellent opportunity promote Vietnamese brands in the international market, and to meet new business partners and expand product distribution networks worldwide.”
Ellingham added, “I’m delighted to bring our first Vietnamese Pavilion to the show. They have a fantastic reputation for high-quality indoor and outdoor wooden furniture. Many of the largest distributors in the UK are now looking to expand their operations in emerging markets, and Vietnamese businesses can seize upon this opportunity to build long-term partnerships.
“This has been a fantastic launch event for us, and we have some fantastic companies that our platform will empower to do better business”

In 2021 Seeds of Italy Ltd agreed a distribution deal with Mr Fothergill's seeds Ltd offering their garden centre outlets 54 Franchi branded vegetable seed packets whilst Seeds of Italy continued to service its own wholesale and retail customers.
Since then, the result of a strategic review has shifted Mr Fothergill's focus back onto its core brands and away from 'guest brands', and so both parties have agreed to end the trading agreement with the aim going forward on a managed transition back to Seeds of Italy Ltd by the 1st of May 2025.
Mr Fothergill’s will be continuing to supply its Franchi seed lines to current customers for the 2024/2025 season after which Seeds of Italy will be able to offer ongoing supply of these lines and the wider offering from this long established and respected Italian seed merchant. Where varieties sell out, Seeds of Italy may supply those missing items ensuring sales are maximised in stores, showing a commitment by Mr Fothergill's to look after their customers by avoiding stand gaps and jointly to protect the Franchi brand in the spirit of the transition.
Paolo Arrigo, MD of Seeds of Italy said “We have been pleased to have worked with a company as prestigious as Mr Fothergill’s seeds with a mutually beneficial Franchi distribution deal over the last 3 years. I know Mr Fothergill's have been pleased with the brand and the relationship and we are now looking forward to supplying our current outlets as normal this coming season, and those other outlets in good time".
Ian Cross, Head of Trade Marketing says “We have enjoyed a good relationship with Franchi Seeds and Seeds of Italy. Despite the decision to stop selling these seeds we wish them well for the future."

Handy LIVE 2024 – British company Handy’s biggest-ever garden machinery event – proved a hit with retailers and garden machinery dealers this September, whether watching demonstrations, participating in activities, or benefiting from the deals on offer in the dedicated Deals Room.
Running across two days – 4-5th September – and held in the beautiful setting of Moulton Grange Country Estate in Northamptonshire, Handy LIVE 2024 showcased Handy’s Webb, The Handy, Greenworks and AVA product ranges, including lawnmowers, line trimmers, hedge trimmers, pole saws, chainsaws, blowers & vacuums, tillers, trolleys, spreaders, log splitters, pressure washers and more. RHS Chelsea Flower Show multiple award winner Adam Woolcott provided expert advice and demonstrated Webb cordless, petrol, electric and hand powered devices, including the new Webb Eco 20V Cordless Battery range. TV presenter Tommy Cross focussed on Greenworks cordless battery powered products, demonstrating everything from garden machinery through to hand held DIY tools. Guests were invited to get hands-on with the machinery during the demonstrations to show their ease of use, effectiveness and, in many cases, their light weight.
This is the first event of its kind for Handy, with attendees including major retailers such as British Garden Centres, Wickes and Hilliers, plus garden machinery dealers from around the UK. Commenting on the event, Carla Harding, Assistant Centre Manager at Woburn Sands Emporium, said: “A great training day at Handy LIVE today learning all about their products! To top it off we even got to have a go at axe throwing.” Another guest was impressed by the product offering: “It was great to see all the range, understand the in-depth thought process that goes into every product to make it accessible for the end user.”
As expected, the Deals Room was particularly popular with garden machinery dealers who took advantage of exclusive on-the-day offers on branded products and bespoke point-of-sale opportunities.
Mark Moseley, Handy’s Sales & Marketing Director, officially opened Handy LIVE 2024 with a welcome speech that also reflected on some of the major changes in the UK garden machinery market. “As the Sales & Marketing Director for Handy for 10 years, I have seen some big changes in the UK market” he stated. “There is an ever-increasing number of new customers who want great cordless products where there is a good depth of range and the batteries are interchangeable and the price is right. Our Greenworks range ticks all the boxes whether you are talking to first time buyers or to those customers who demand extra power for larger lawn types.” However, Mark was keen to point out that “there is still a high demand for petrol and electric products primarily due to price versus petrol and confidence to tackle larger lawn types and therefore the Webb brand compliments Greenworks by offering a full range of petrol, electric and cordless machinery. Webb is perfect for any retailer who wishes to either have a single brand covering all power options or simply help build a credible machinery category alongside other branded product.”
With the success of Handy LIVE 2024, Handy is already planning next year’s event!

AIPH approves new expos in South Korea and India
the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) has announced approvals for the 2028 Ulsan International Garden Expo and the 2026 Taean International Horticulture & Healing Expo in South Korea...

At the 76th AIPH Annual Congress, the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH), champions for the power of plants, announced approvals for the 2028 Ulsan International Garden Expo and the 2026 Taean International Horticulture & Healing Expo in South Korea. Additionally, AIPH confirmed its endorsement of the 17th International Flora Expo 2024 in Mumbai, India, a major horticultural trade event. These approvals mark significant strides in AIPH’s mission to promote horticultural and environmental excellence worldwide.
The approvals were finalised during the General Meeting, which took place following presentations at the International Horticultural Expo Conference on the 4th of September, amidst the events of the AIPH 76th AIPH Annual Congress.
Synergy of 76th AIPH Annual Congress and Green Is Life Expo The Congress was hosted in the vibrant city of Warsaw, Poland. It fostered a deep synergy between AIPH and the local horticultural scene, made possible by an invitation from the Polish Nurserymen Association (Związek Szkółkarzy Polskich), a valued member of AIPH.
Running from September 3rd to September 7th, 2024, the Congress took place in the same week as the ‘Green is Life’ (Zielen to Zycie) Expo, an AIPH-approved horticultural trade exhibition organised by the Polish Nurserymen Association, held from September 5th to 7th. Both events significantly enhanced the reach and impact for the AIPH Congress attendees, offering numerous opportunities for collaboration and exchange within the international horticultural community.
AIPH International Horticultural Expo Conference The AIPH International Expo Conference, a pivotal part of the Congress programme, was held on the 4th of September at the Radisson Collection Hotel in Warsaw. The following day, as part of the Annual Congress programme, delegates attended the opening of ‘Green is Life’ at the EXPO XXI Center. This international trade fair also featured Industry and Green City conferences, underscoring Poland’s significant contributions to the horticultural industry.
Ms Renata Fryszkowska-Madej, Vice President of the Polish Nurserymen Association, warmly welcomed international attendees at the Expo Conference, emphasising the Green is Life Expo’s role in showcasing Poland’s vibrant plant life and serving as a dynamic platform for international exchange and professional development.
Key Expo Approvals and International Horticultural Expo Presentations AIPH members approved the following applications for future International Horticultural Expos at the General Meeting; however, before the vote later that day, the Expo organisers presented their applications to the attendees.
Ulsan, South Korea, known for its robust industrial base, is poised to redefine its urban environment with the '2028 Ulsan International Garden Expo’. The organisers plan to transform areas impacted by industrial activities into hubs of urban sustainability, featuring gardens designed to beautify the city while combating urban heat and improving air quality. During his presentation, Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom articulated a compelling vision, stating: “Our city’s transformation will not only advance urban greenery but will also serve as a model for sustainable urban development worldwide and environmental health.”
Taean County in Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea, received approval to organise the ‘Taean International Horticulture & Healing Expo 2026,’ which will blend horticulture with therapeutic wellness practices to enhance public health. Situated on the west coast, Taean is leveraging its natural beauty and serene landscapes to foster a unique environment where visitors can experience healing through nature. Deputy Mayor Lee Oh Jingi highlighted Taean’s rich history of overcoming environmental challenges and its strategic use of natural horticultural resources, which will be integral to promoting healing and relaxation.
In addition to these South Korean Expos, AIPH officially endorsed the 17th International Flora Expo 2024, scheduled for 25-27 October 2024 at the Bombay Exhibition Center, Mumbai, India. As India’s largest horticulture and floriculture trade event, this AIPH-approved trade exhibition will attract over 250 companies and expect 16,000+ visitors, providing a key platform for business networking between domestic and international horticultural businesses. With a focus on sustainability and eco-friendly practices, the expo aligns with global trends, especially with the Grower’s Flower Council of India’s campaign to ban plastic flowers.
During the International Horticultural Expo Conference, various other presentations featured updates of AIPH-approved Expos, including: • Expo 2023 Doha, Qatar – Expo review since closing 28 March 2024 • Expo 2027 Yokohama, Japan – Preparations update • Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat), Thailand 2029 – First progress update since AIPH approval in March 2024. • International Horticultural Exhibition Chengdu 2024, China – Expo report since opening 26 April 2024 • Expo 2026 Udon Thani, Thailand • Euroflora 2025, Italy
Presentations from Florint and Dopplemayer In addition to Expo approvals, several key suppliers to the horticultural industry delivered impactful presentations.
Simon Ogrizek, President of Florint (International Florist Organisation), delivered a comprehensive presentation on Florint’s pivotal role in the global floristry industry. As a network connecting florist associations across Europe, Latin America, and beyond, Florint represents over 100,000 florist businesses that employ more than 350,000 people across Europe, generating more than €20 billion in annual turnover.
Ogrizek outlined Florint's strategic focus on five key areas: entrepreneurship, marketing, craftsmanship, education, and sustainability. He emphasised Florint’s commitment to promoting modern vocational training and facilitating the international exchange of expertise in floristry. A key example of this work is Florint's prestigious global competitions, such as the World Cup in Floral Design (scheduled for The Hague in August 2025) and the Europa Cup & EuroFleurs, which foster innovation and elevate the art of floral design to new heights.
Florint is also a leader in standardising floral design judging and developing professional assessment systems that ensure transparency and fairness across global competitions. This standardisation is crucial in promoting excellence in the craft and recognising talent within the industry.
Florint’s involvement in AIPH-approved Expos, such as the International Horticulture Goyang Korea 2024, further demonstrates their commitment to global collaboration and innovation in the floristry sector.
Nadine Haas from Doppelmayr Group also presented the company’s cutting-edge ropeway systems and their successful application at major garden shows. As a global leader in sustainable mobility, Doppelmayr’s electric-powered ropeways provide efficient transport solutions while also enhancing the visitor experience. Haas showcased examples, demonstrating how ropeways offer practical, eco-friendly, and visually appealing solutions for large-scale events. She highlighted their minimal environmental footprint, short construction timelines, and ability to seamlessly integrate into landscapes, making them an attractive and sustainable option for future garden Expos.

Deco-Pak has undergone a management buyout by David and Craig Hall, marking a significant evolution in its growth and commitment to the industry.
Founded in 2004, Deco-Pak has been a trusted name in garden and landscaping products, drawing on a rich family heritage of experience in the sector that dates back to the late 80s. With the management buyout, Deco-Pak is set to strengthen its position in the market by focusing on a new strategic approach centred around sustainability and enhanced customer value.
“This is a very exciting time for Deco-Pak,” says Managing Director, Craig Hall. “As we celebrate two decades in the industry, we are embracing change to better meet the evolving needs of our customers. Our new direction is focused on sustainability – not just from an environmental perspective, but also in terms of delivering high-quality products, fair pricing, exceptional service, and an overall superior customer experience.”
Deco-Pak’s renewed commitment to sustainability includes a conscious effort to reduce environmental impact through responsible sourcing, the Net-Zero plan, and innovation in product development. Moreover, the company is focusing on sustainable business practices that ensure quality and value, aligning with the growing demand for more responsible and ethical choices among garden centre customers.
In line with this fresh approach, Deco-Pak has also made the strategic decision not to attend Glee this year. While we recognise the show as a premier event in our industry and greatly value the strong relationship we have built with the show, it’s organisers and fellow exhibitors over the years, this decision allows us to better allocate resources in a way that directly benefits our customers.
Craig Hall explains: “We believe that, by taking a step back from traditional exhibitions this year, we are able to focus on initiatives that deliver even greater value and innovation directly to our customers. This strategy not only supports our commitment to sustainability but also allows us to maintain a competitive edge, ensuring we remain a strong and agile company capable of adapting to market changes and exceeding customer expectations.”
As Deco-Pak looks to the future, the company is committed to continuing its legacy of innovation and quality, while forging new paths to enhance customer satisfaction and industry leadership.

In a heartwarming show of courage and generosity, four fearless individuals took to the skies on Tuesday to raise funds for Greenfingers Charity by completing a daring wingwalk.
The challenge saw Russell Thompson of the AMES Companies, Becky Rose of JBM Sales Ltd, George Summerscales of Klondyke Garden Centres, and Kimberley Hornby George of Hornby George PR join forces to conquer their fears and make a meaningful difference. Their collective efforts raised an incredible £4,000, which will go towards creating much-needed therapeutic gardens in children’s hospices.
Greenfingers Charity has long been dedicated to building magical outdoor spaces where children with life-limiting conditions and their families can find solace, enjoy fresh air, and create precious memories together. These green havens are carefully designed to be accessible, beautiful, and comforting, providing a much-needed escape from the stresses of medical care. With this latest fundraising effort, the charity is one step closer to completing more of these life-enhancing garden projects in hospices across the UK.
Russell Thompson, said: “It was a nerve-wracking experience, but knowing that every penny we raised will help children and their families in hospices made it all worthwhile. Greenfingers does such vital work, and we’re proud to support them.”
The £4,000 raised by the wingwalkers will make a significant impact on the 11 garden projects that the Greenfingers team is actively working on, enabling the charity to continue transforming outdoor spaces into magical gardens that promote wellbeing, healing, and joy.
Linda Petrons, Director of Fundraising & Communications at the Greenfingers Charity, commented: “We are incredibly grateful to Russell, Becky, George, and Kimberley for their bravery and generosity and, of course, all those who sponsored them. Their wingwalking adventure has raised vital funds that will help us create more gardens in children’s hospices across the UK, providing a little bit of magic to those who need it most.”

The National Trust has announced that £1 million of funding from Blue Diamond Garden Centres will be spent on garden and plant conservation projects, as it enters the third year of its brand licensing agreement with the garden centre group.
Blue Diamond Garden Centres is one of the biggest financial contributors to the National Trust’s gardens and parklands, having committed to giving the conservation charity £1 million over three years.
The Trust’s Director of Gardens and Parklands, Andy Jasper, said: “We’re proud to be custodians of centuries of gardening heritage and we are ambitious for our world-class gardens. Our collaboration with Blue Diamond Garden Centres is helping us to accelerate projects that not only secure the future of plants and gardens, but ensure our gardens excite, inspire and are ready for the future. Together we’re achieving great things in our gardens.”

At Berrington Hall in Herefordshire – home to ‘Capability’ Brown’s final landscape – £130,000 of Blue Diamond funds will be put toward creating a new flower garden in the footprint of one shown in historic maps. A mix of more than 53,000 new flowering plants and bulbs, alongside exciting new wisteria ‘umbrellas’ and a restored Wisteria Walk, will give a long season of interest and bring back the spectacle, wonder and surprise that 18th and 19th century visitors would once have enjoyed here.
National Trust Project Manager Ana Vaughan said: “Pleasure Grounds in Georgian gardens were spaces for recreation and entertainment and this project will re-create the original delightful experience that visitors took from the garden. A new path network will improve accessibility, meaning everyone can enjoy the colours, scents and textural beauty.
“We’re grateful that monies from Blue Diamond Garden Centres are enabling us to make Berrington Hall an absolute must-see for garden lovers.”

Wightwick Manor near Wolverhampton will also benefit, with £30,000 of ] Blue Diamond funding enabling the renewal of the kitchen garden. Work will focus on improving accessibility through the garden to the newly restored Peach House, creating an extended period of interest, and increasing space for food production. The team hopes the funding will inspire visitors to grow their own, by showcasing fruit and vegetable cultivation, propagation and seed sowing.
Money from the garden centre group will also help the Trust with its work at Woolsthorpe Manor, the Lincolnshire farmhouse where Sir Isaac Newton developed his world-changing ideas. Funds will help the Trust create species-rich meadows, including seasonal bulbs, in the meadow and orchard, and to continue to care for one of its most significant trees – the apple tree so famously associated with Newton and his theories on gravity.
Benthall Hall in Shropshire will use £50,000 to rebuild a glasshouse to cultivate, display and engage visitors with tender plants collected by George Maw while living at the hall in the mid to late 19th century. Maw collected plants for Charles Darwin and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, and is best known for writing and illustrating A Monograph of the Genus Crocus, published in 1886.
Nostell in West Yorkshire will use funds from Blue Diamond to establish an Apothecary Garden inspired by 18th-century lady of the house Sabine Winn. Sabine took an active interest in apothecary and herbal remedies, even commissioning a beautiful apothecary counter from Thomas Chippendale. Sabine had hoped to create her own apothecary garden and now, more than 200 years after her death, it can come to fruition, allowing visitors to explore some of the medicinal plants she knew, and their uses.
Alan Roper, Managing Director of Blue Diamond Garden Centres said: “The National Trust is a much loved and cherished institution. Blue Diamond is one of the largest financial contributors to the Trust’s gardens and our funding will enable the Trust to accelerate important plant and garden conservation works, continuing to preserve our heritage and open spaces for all to enjoy."
More details on these projects, and other projects funded or part-funded by Blue Diamond Garden Centres, will be released in due course.
